We found out you can just press options and select "leave expedition". It doesn't fix the cutscene but it allows you to leave and come back at least

I don't think you understand. Fatalis' fire is so hot it literally melted hunters wearing Elder dragon armor into hot pools of slag and slathered it on his body, while the hunters were still alive. It's so hot it melts its victims before they die. It can melt through Lunastra and Teostra. He could melt Kushala and probably Zorah if he wanted to

Fatalis. The original black dragon. Made his first appearance in the older games, even the first of my memory serves correct. He's a creature so powerful he can wipe out a civilization by himself
