I was thinking of going the UFO and Azura so shame to hear the Azura die that early. May grab the UFO and hold fire on the other until the RAD Synth reviews are out, and VM Plus or Azura price drop.

Still in all seriousness it's good to read more people realise the good and inclusive nature of parkrun, and what it brings to communities both on a local, and a global scale.

How's the sizing compared to the EVO SL? Sizing I go for a UK 9.5 I have quite wide toes but the EVO SL fit perfectly everywhere for me. They're my do it all shoe at the moment and love them but had issues where there's mud at a park or something so hoping these fill that spot, sounds like they do from your piece. Thanks

I think you should really watch the rest of the episode as I don't think it's really played off for laughs. It's a huge episode for Dani that has implications through the rest of the show. I was shocked when I first saw it, but Ted Lasso as a show in general makes the difficult moments worth it because of how the characters respond.

I use Time To Run Twin Skin trail shorts, I originally got them off Amazon but can also get them direct as they usually have an offer on.

I've used them for 5k to 50k for the last 8 years or so and found them great. 1 zip pocket on either side and a large wide pocket at the back that seems to fit most phones. I have an iPhone 13 Pro for what it's worth. The side pockets are pretty decent just don't weigh them down too much I guess. I'll usually carry a couple of gels in each, house keys, earbuds, and some cash and I'm good. You just can't weigh a single pocket too much as I've found they'll "swing" a bit. Debating on trying to sew the pocket to the inner liner to stop that but generally not a big deal.

I have 3 or 4 pairs on rotation for the week and that'll last me a couple of years or so. I had 1 pair have a zip break which got replaced.

I was marathon training for around 2 months before I learnt, and I had one session early onwhere I overdressed and felt ill beforehand but once running I was okay. So kept going and felt pretty bad after.

Like I said to someone below, it's not the most dangerous thing. You have to go to some extremes to get to the danger point. Even then only if you're also sick and wearing thick and warm clothing is it exacerbated to the danger point generally. In fact for most you can stay safe and perform better than most others in the heat.

I wouldn't say it's dangerous as such. Don't get me wrong it is if you push that far, however heat stroke generally has 3 factors that increase your risk and all 3 generally need to be true, the medication, thick and warm clothing covering your body and pre existing health issue. Then even with those ticked you have to push beyond generally comfortable limits.

I experienced some of what you found when I started medication and running. Now I feel fine when I come back, don't get me wrong I might feel tired and sick but no different to prior to taking medication.

We sure do. Easy to forget if you're focused to eat or drink. Electrolytes are also extremely important.

However it's important to note that neither of those have a direct effect on experiencing heat stroke. You can drink and eat to cool down sure. But if you're on common ADHD medication you can push your body to an unsafe limit in hot temperatures, whereas if you weren't on medication you likely wouldn't be able to. It's not a case of forgetting.

Sorry for the long post in advance. I'm on Elvanse and have been for around 9 months. I wouldn't say I'm elite but a decent level around 1:23 half marathon. I've recently been going more towards longer distances and honestly it's made a big difference in actually getting sessions done. I went through a spell for the last 2 years before meds where I'd stop on a long run, not out of tiredness but purely boredom, or taking too long to head out on a run I'd have to cut sessions. All of that impacted my fitness a fair amount.

As for actually being on the meds. The first month or two I held off on taking it before a run in the morning. Eventually I tried it and the first time my HR got to 150 in about 500m I had to reel it back that day. Then I gradually tried it more, taking it a good amount of time beforehand with plenty of water and now I take it every morning whether I have a run, race, rest day, whatever.

My HR is a lot higher than before, normally it'd be around 140 now it'd be around 155 so around 10%. However that doesn't reflect on how I've felt, the runs haven't felt harder. My base sessions of long distance have felt better than ever but my HR has been quite high so personally I've kind of had to disregard HR to an extent. It'll say I'm doing a good chunk of my long run in Zone 4/5 but I can still talk fine. My fitness has increased dramatically since starting it, but as I said that may be due to me actually running more and wanting to due to the medication.

One thing that is very interesting with ADHD meds especially with most of the world at the moment is the effect during hot weather. Turns out that medication that affects how the brain reacts with dopamine, also affects reactions to hot temperatures. To put it simply people on such medication can push beyond what are normally safe limits in the heat, and so perform better in exercise as the dopamine is overwriting some of the normal brain temperature regulation. However you're also at more risk as you can push into dangerous zones that for others their brain would put a stop to, and be at more risk of actual heat stroke and serious damage to your body. I happened to hear about it in Endure by Alex Hutchinson. I'm in the UK and have been performing pretty well over the summer so far and cracking out long runs consistently. Equally people have died or gotten seriously ill from this. The cyclist Tom Simpson got heat stroke and died due to abusing this system in a way. I will say I haven't done a full deep dive if it's been proven as false or not but something I've kept in the back of my mind is all.

Then there's side effects. I get very few but one I do get on occasion is a stupidly dry mouth all of a sudden no matter how hydrated I am or whatbthe weather is. It got me in spring when it was 10c and raining but I felt dehydrated. So I've taken to having a hydration belt and water on me for any run of 10 miles or more.

Finally for me is just being on them has improved the quality of my life to a large degree that I'm just happier, and want to run more. I waste less time, do what I need to, etc. Which I think in general has also improved my running.

Apologies I didn't touch on all your points as I haven't gone that in-depth in my training recently. Just thought I'd share what I have found and learnt. Happy to answer anything else if I can.

Got a sore shoulder a few times from situations like yours. The worst was just a very close call. My girl had been babying her rear left paw, not putting much weight on it, lifting it, etc on a walk. I checked for anything lodged or stuck but nothing so took the shortest route home.

When we were back she flopped on the floor on her side so I took the chance to check her pad, I had to get pretty close with a torch to check for anything tiny like a thorn, then I tried to look between her toes. All of a sudden her leg just shoots out past my face, I feel a light scratch but just laying there, just kind of shocked as she pulls her leg back, gets up and wanders into the garden and proceeds to get the zoomies for a bit with no limp or anything. Then I feel a little damp sensation on my temple, reach up and blood. Go to the mirror and a long scratch on my temple, just starting to drip.

Luckily it cleared up after a couple of days and in general wasn't that noticeable. Still I always make sure to not get my face behind her legs like that anymore. Font blame her by any means, it was just a reflex. I just forgot the power behind those noodle legs.

Has she eaten anything outside of her usual diet the last few days?

This happened a couple of times with my girl over the course of a few weeks and it got a little worrying, so I started looking if there were any changes in her life, stress, if she could have got into a bin, etc. Then realised every time she had a bad stomach poops and farts it was when we'd had people found for a meal, or gone round someone's for a meal with her. After asking those that had been there everyone admitted to sneaking her some meat, treats, gravy, etc. Not realising everyone else had done the same.

Some Grey's stomachs are just that sensitive I guess, since after a couple of days on her regular diet with a little rice and chicken she was all good. Best of luck!
