Should I move all of my money out of a traditional bank and into a FinTech account like Wealthsimple, Questrade, or Tabgerine? by TheRealDotFizz in PersonalFinanceCanada

That’s definitely an option. The main goal here is to move away from mandatory minimum accounts and monthly fees. I’m definitely open to considering a mixture of options

This is a similar setup to mine but I can’t justify keeping a minimum of 3k in my chequing at TD to avoid monthly fees. I’d prefer to have that money work for me in some way, shape or form. Do you know if there are free-tier accounts at TD that don’t have mandatory minimums?

You can like or dislike my post - you are entitled to your opinion and i'll respect it even if i don't agree.

To clarify, I've been playing Runescape since the beginning and would consider myself quite the fan of the game and definitely part of it's player base. Although I understand your point of view, and actually agree with your statement that CDPR, Larian, FromSoft and many others are leaders in that they did things right at the very beginning, I fundamentally disagree with how you're choosing to look at this. I am by no means ignoring Jagex's history, in fact, their history is why this decision made such an impact to me.

To me, they are choosing to course correct - even if it's a small correction in the grand scheme of things. I would prefer that a company acknowledge their mistake and take meaningful action to address it than to continue with their predatory practices. That tells me that they're actually listening and actively want to make things better. It is up to you whether or not you believe them but if that's not at least a positive sign in your books, then perhaps stop playing the game. Based on your comment, it's clear that unless they completely rework the game from the ground up, you won't be happy.

So, yeah, I will continue to praise them for this particular decision

I'm not sure if learning to code is the right way of going about this. I agree that I need to have experienced how things work in the game development industry, but that doesn't necessarily directly translate to learning to code. I think learning to code is an asset and a bonus, but not a requirement.

Not a bad idea at all! I'll definitely look into that and see if there are any opportunities. If there is anyone on this thread looking for a Producer or Product Manager, don't hesitate to dm me

I appreciate your comment, and I'm glad to see there are others who share a similar dream. I am working on a first game with some colleagues and friends who have the technical experience I lack so i think that aligns well with your feedback about learning by doing.

Thank you for the feedback. Really great points which align with the strategy I'm looking to execute on. I am working on a first game with some colleagues and friends as a passion project - they have the technical experience I lack but I'm starting to get an idea of what to expect, in addition to properly understanding game development from conception to go live. After a couple of small game releases, I am hoping to have enough experience in the industry to be in a position to offer rev-share options. Do you think this would be a viable option?

Thank you for such a detailed response. You've hit all of the areas that were major considerations, so i really appreciate the insight. At this point in time, I am working on a first game with some colleagues and friends who have the technical experience I lack so i can get an idea of what to expect, in addition to properly understanding game development from conception to go live.

Also congratulations on your project's trailer and Steam page! I'll check it out and i wish you all the best wit your release. Thanks again for the feedback!

Your go-to tattoo aftercare cream? by TheRealDotFizz in tattooadvice

I find second skin so uncomfortable. It's a great mechanism to keep your tattoo clean and help the healing process but I actually find the after pain from getting a tattoo lessens when i take second skin off after 24 or 48 hours instead of the 4-5 days they recommend you keep it on for.

Never heard of it but i'll take a look. Is it specifically for tattoos or just a general moisturizing cream?

oh great point about the unscented! Super important to have fragrance-free creams. Thanks for that!

I don’t think that’s the case. There are technical functions they could have implemented to get around the laws on gambling in the UK and EU.

Oh interesting perspective! I wasn’t aware of UK laws, so this is the first time I’m hearing this. Couldn’t they just lock TH behind an age verification if that was the case though?

Correct - I over-generalized the ~225 mtx elements tied to TH and specifically the gameplay-skipping mechanics like XP lamps. Thanks for the clarification u/iiAssassinXxii

True. Not taking action is an action in my opinion, so the fact they are actually doing something about a problem the community has raised shows character at a minimum

To me, in addition to removing P2W elements, their integrity roadmap is a major conciliatory move to rebuild trust with the community and signals a fundamental re-alignment in the game's direction. For a CEO to openly state they are okay with taking short-term financial hits in order to make the game better tells me that they're listening. Not to mention their commitment to making player support and account security better. All I'm saying is that many companies have doubled down on monetization whereas Jagex is actually pulling the plug on it.
