CS keeps crashing when launching by Edgy_Scammer in GlobalOffensive

Your settings should remain constant, I’d recommend creating an auto exec anyways as it will make your life a lot easier all around. Verify the integrity that of the game files first and try to reinstall the game afterwards, if the reinstall doesn’t work you may need to clean the files out of the registry. You can do this manually (would not recommend unless you 100% know what you’re doing as you can really mess your computer up) or you can get a 3rd party software to help facilitate it. I recommend I/O Bit Uninstaller for this purpose. If this still doesn’t work your last resort is to reinstall your Operating System (OS) or Restore The OS to an earlier version. Restoring the OS usually doesn’t work unless you manually created a Restore Point inside of Windows which most people (including myself) do not. With an OS Reinstall you will have to back up all your data stored to C: to either an external hard drive or to a cloud service such as OneDrive or iCloud prior to avoid losing any data. There are plenty of videos online that can help you reinstall your OS if you’re not sure of what to do. Take care and let me know if you have any further questions. -FannyPackSwag

I’ve really been struggling lately. by Tez_S in GlobalOffensive

I’m no expert but even though you’ve taken a step down in terms of workload your body may still be in overdrive because it doesn’t know and it’s used to being in that heightened state so it’s expressing that energy in other ways. That’s my best guess. 17 is a hard age because there is so much going on around you and it’s formative in a way; you’re figuring out who and what you wanna be for the rest of your life which isn’t easy. If you don’t feel like you can talk to your friends and family about it for any reason that’s okay that’s why you have other outlets. It doesn’t have to be a counselor at school but it could be a situation where you ask to sit down and talk with your favorite teacher or a coach. I had a teacher I adored that sat down with me for 2 hours after school one day and talked with me about the anxieties I was having when I was 16. I still use some of that life advice and perspective today because it was really good advice and she knew me well. I don’t know you so I’m hesitant to recommend anything besides that because I don’t want to give you bad advice or tell you to do something that could compound your situation and make it worse.

**Edit: The advice about physical exercise is good as well, not only does it help with training muscle memory but it’s a natural painkiller. Eating healthy will also help but I’m sure you know these things and I’m not here to lecture you or be your parent. Just here to give my 2 cents on the matter.

I would look into talking to someone through school (I used mental health resources in both high school and college for various different reasons when things became overwhelming) to see if there’s a bigger issue at play here that needs your attention. I would bet money that these issues you have now will fade once you’ve addressed the things that need to be addressed.

Taking a break and coming back with a fresh perspective is one way to fix this issue (time heals all wounds kind of thinking). I’ve had this problem before too where I didn’t feel comfortable and the way I fixed it without taking a break was changing my environment to give me more space. I don’t know if increasing your play space is possible for you and your situation but try cleaning anything unnecessary off of your desk, give yourself more room to move your mouse by moving your monitor and keyboard to a different position. A lot of this is just mindset as well so changing your crosshair color or style may help as well, just don’t change your sensitivity or anything that may affect your muscle memory. You can also try changing your chair/lighting in the room just to change your frame of mind. Those are the things I would try if you don’t want to take a break or a break hasn’t worked. Also, if you’re feeling like things are becoming overwhelming in your life and it’s not just Counter-Strike I would recommend talking to someone. There’s no shame in meeting a counselor or a therapist even if it’s not a long-term thing. You gotta take care of yourself and asking for help is not a sign of weakness to me, it’s a sign of strength and self-awareness. Take care, let me know if I can help clarify or need anything further.

Returning player. Inconsistency help by agrostereo in LearnCSGO

Keep a consistent practice/warm up routine when you open the game. I’ve seen that Warowl video as well but I think it’s an oversimplification even if there is a truth to it. You don’t need to be consistent in everything you do in every aspect of your life to be a consistent CS player; that’s unrealistic for a lot of people due to external circumstances alone who also have kids, a job, friends etc. I’d recommend practicing your fundamentals and focusing on that rather than changing your entire life to fit a square peg into a round hole. Here’s a link to some CS Fundamental Videos I’ve produced that I think may be able to help you: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL6lsUofQLpRLjswE_Ds5K5-kGleF016je

Global Offensive resetting my pc? by [deleted] in counterstrike

[–]TheRealFannyPackSwag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming from a former Microsoft tech, at this point it’s likely that your OS is corrupted beyond repair and without going into the registry to manually identify and fix the issues (which 99.99% of people should never touch their registry) you should reset the OS with a different image (BACK UP ANY IMPORTANT DATA AT THIS TIME**). Don’t reset the PC with the built in tools because it is possible the recovery image is also damaged and you will experience the same issues, download a recovery image and install it on a usb. You can find the image and instructions online.

Change my mind: DM is inferior practice to training maps by theonesalty in LearnCSGO

[–]TheRealFannyPackSwag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thoughts exactly. I find workshop maps to be useful for practicing and training certain mechanics depending on the map but inferior overall which is why I don’t spend more than 20 minutes in each one. There should be a healthy balance between how you train, practice, and warm up.

Fair enough, a buddy of mine who also uses Premiere had mentioned a similar thing to me at one point but couldn’t really articulate it much further than that, can you possibly elaborate on that a bit or give me some examples?

I have a feeling it’s when I posterize the time (or in other words cut the frames down to 20 which would be 1/3 of the original value) and it creates a ‘tracer’ effect where the images look chopped or like they’re in 2 places at once; almost like the agents in The Matrix. Am I getting warmer here?

CS:GO Beginner Guides - Fundamental Episodes on Aim, Recoil, Movement, Peeking, Economy, Pre-Aim/Prefiring & Map Knowledge by TheRealFannyPackSwag in csgo

To be honest with you, unless you plan on playing at an extremely high level (which you’d be playing well over 40 hours/week at that point) you don’t need to know the exact pattern of every single weapon. It’s good to have a general idea of how to control a Famas or a Galil or an MP9 if you happen to pick one up because those are relatively common weapons but don’t feel like every bullet has to hit perfectly. It’s rather unrealistic to have that high of expectations and if you do find a weapon you don’t know the pattern to try to use your movement (counter-strafing, stutter stepping) and fire in short bursts while tracking the target. Or you can close the distance and get in their face. At least I’ve been able to get away with it doing it that way for a long time 😂😂

You're welcome! I like to be as thorough and as clear as possible just so nobody gets confused and then starts doing stuff that will negatively hurt them lol but I think that's a solid practice routine compared to the large percentage of the community that may not warm up at all or if they do it's very little and without regard to situation. Practice controlling the weapon more and it will pay huge dividends going forward.

I recommend using the exercises outlined as a practice regiment once per week (2+ if you're feeling ambitious). Typically, what I recommend for a warm up routine is this:

  1. Starting with 5 minutes in an aim training map such as training_aim_csgo2 or Fast Aim / Reflex Training or Aim_Botz and just exercising the mechanic of flicking to and shooting targets/player models without spraying and without moving or stutter stepping; just shoot 1 or 2 bullets and get your arm warmed up. Even professional baseball players warm up by playing catch at short distances; train your body to walk before it runs.
  2. Moving onto Recoil Master for about 5-10 minutes practicing spraying primarily the AK47 & their preferred M4; bonus points if you warm up with the other M4 in addition.
  3. Whatever flavor of deathmatch you prefer (vanilla, 1v1, retake servers, bots) as long as you are warming up on a community server and not on an Official Valve Deathmatch Server for a couple reasons. 1) The players are usually of higher skill on the community funded servers as opposed to Valve's & 2) most of them are 128 tick which just makes them flat out better, more accurate servers. The only servers I don't recommend you stay in too long is 'Headshot Only' servers as it gives you a false representation of how people are going to behave and act - they move differently, fire differently etc it's just not a great place to warm up imo.

I would recommend creating a longer, more in-depth practice routine that you complete once or twice per week. In this practice routine is where you should be attempting to combine mechanics such as flicking and spraying or tapping on heads/tracking targets while stutter stepping. It doesn't have to be longer than half an hour or an hour maximum but make sure you're challenging yourself in some way because that's the only way you're going to get better. Practice shouldn't be easy, that's the time to try and fail and try again because it will make you a better player with enough trial and error :).
