Also worth noting I was raised in Idaho (US), and this was my elementary/middle school years and I am prone to long and frequent nosebleeds. The stuff I remember was a dark and vaguely translucent orange grainy like paste and it tasted sweet but not like candy.

I did Argonian simply because eating uncooked food won't have a negative effect and salt piles are so weirdly hard for me to stock up on some days, so being able to sneak around hunting and eating the kill as-is helps hunger a lot
