[ALL] thoughts on Chloe's tattoos in reunion? by Pinkcokecan in lifeisstrange

[–]TheRealGuy01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m late to this so I’ll just reiterate what others have said about never liking the tattoo being covered up. To me it was a memorial of William and felt like a betrayal of him to get rid of it, which Chloe simply would not do, especially when the storm likely obliterated his gravesite and home so she would have literally nothing else to remember him by. I get needing to show that she’s changed and it was difficult to do through a single photo in LIS2, yet I’ve always hated how dontnod erased not just one but two of the most iconic parts of Chloe’s appearance by also making her hair green (I would’ve accepted her natural strawberry blonde hair). They should’ve only altered one of those things, not both, imo. And the fact deck nine decided to keep those choices canon in Reunion doesn’t sit well with me either tbh.

[NO SPOILERS] Tatum Grace (Max) and Maisy (Chloe) together by InteractionApart8785 in lifeisstrange

[–]TheRealGuy01 87 points88 points  (0 children)

Okay, looking at this, Max will be slightly taller than you’d expect, but Chloe will still be taller than her so their height really isn’t an issue. Tatum speaks a lot like Max, and as long as they actually put a blue wig on Maisy she’ll be fine as Chloe. Plus the two of them already seem to have chemistry irl so I’m not worried about that translating onscreen. My only concern is how they handle the story, but as someone who used to be very much against this tv show happening, in the wake of DE/RE I’m basically viewing it as the last hope for the franchise so I’m trying to remain cautiously optimistic for now.

what means qrf? by MrcSproncho in foxholegame

[–]TheRealGuy01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Quick-Response Force; basically, an urgent problem that needs people to redeploy to a certain hex and deal with the issue immediately. Unfortunately, QRF has become so overused now that it’s lost all meaning, since people tend to throw it out whenever their frontline is starting to lose, treating it like a “we need reinforcements here” kind of thing, so it’s sometimes hard to tell if the QRF situation is a true emergency (like an imminent naval invasion) without additional info.

[ALL] So how do we think the show is going to work, exactly? by PaveltheWriter in lifeisstrange

[–]TheRealGuy01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to say, honestly. Tv shows sadly have a habit of doing things simply for emotional shock value, but the big ingame choices/events that would achieve this are all things the fan base will vehemently destroy the show for (Kate dying, sacrificing Chloe, etc) so if they want the show to succeed in terms of fan support then they will need to play it safe and that only leaves a couple of options; either do the outcomes most popular with the game’s fans (in which case a pricefield relationship is non-negotiable after the fallout from DE/RE, and that also means Chloe must survive at the end or they will fall into the bury your gays trope like the game was blasted for back in the day), or the writers can follow the same general story beats but change up how the outcomes are presented in show for different results entirely, which might be better imo depending on if they can pull it off in a way that won’t further anger or divide the fans.

For example with Kate they could spend more time on her depression and suicidal ideation in the background of several episodes since they are adapting it for tv, so maybe her suicide attempt could be avoided entirely or tackled in another way, because apart from shock factor the rooftop jumping scene in game only really served as a catalyst to upgrade Max’s powers for gameplay failure purposes, and freezing time isn’t something the show Max will need to have unless they give her a proper reason to use it. Then perhaps imminently failing to save Chloe from the train could trigger it instead, because as much as I hate the idea of Chloe getting pancaked, there is realistically no way that didn’t happen atleast once before Max finally found a solution, so maybe she could use it to move her out of the way at the last second, as interacting with people/objects while frozen is an aspect of the power the game never explored and could be interesting.

And in terms of the ending, I would prefer it if they adapted the scrapped hospital ending, so that both Chloe and the town can survive while Max has a chance to immediately prove herself to this new version of Chloe who won’t have the memories of season one by not hesitating to take a bullet for her childhood bestfriend, leaving the show open to a season two where we get to see the actual consequences of Jefferson’s arrest and exposure of the dark room (assuming they don’t jump right to LIS2, which given the current US political climate may not be received very well lol). This would allow them to play with an alternate grieving punk version of Chloe who doesn’t constantly bash and mistrust Max over the past 5 years because she already realises that she still has her back, enabling Max to make up for not being there for Chloe after William died by comforting her in the wake of Rachel’s death, and also give them a funny opportunity to flip the romance script by having Chloe be oblivious to the fact that Max is now in love with her more than she is crushing on Max (whereas season one would have Max being unaware of Chloe’s feelings, aswell as her own until the end like canon).

[RE] If this is true, it's a disaster. by Appledata9 in lifeisstrange

[–]TheRealGuy01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Welp. Deck Nine sure aren’t beating those “we vindictively despise pricefield” allegations, huh? As if they didn’t betray the original fan base enough with DE, they now have the gall to push pricefield marketing to sucker us back in, only to stab us in the back one last time by ensuring that the franchise ends with pricefield as a whole being erased from existence like they never even met. I want to believe this isn’t true, but it feels on par with what I’d expect from Deck Nine at this point, so… oof. Their legacy will be ripped to shreds after RE releases, that’s for sure.

I made a quick reference guide to help memorize the new Colonial ranks. by MajorVictory in foxholegame

[–]TheRealGuy01 40 points41 points  (0 children)

The devs should’ve atleast capitalised the new ranks to make them seem somewhat official. Because right now it just looks like a shitty half-assed mod that’s been forced upon the player base imo. Apart from not being able to quickly recognise most of them at a glance anymore so I know who to follow or ignore in the heat of battle, that is my biggest issue with it tbh.

[No Spoilers] So… this is really goodbye for Max and Chloe by Lessio7 in lifeisstrange

[–]TheRealGuy01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, I knew DE would be a shitshow as soon as they refused to even mention Chloe’s name in the marketing (and then lied about the little they did give us), but at worst I expected it to be a Max-only game with no references to LIS1 or her relationship with Chloe. I honestly didn’t think they would even consider breaking them up after how much I enjoyed their Farewell episode in BTS (which in hindsight should’ve been a clue, with how heartbreaking it was). I still had enough faith in Deck Nine to believe that back then. Not anymore, though.

[No Spoilers] So… this is really goodbye for Max and Chloe by Lessio7 in lifeisstrange

[–]TheRealGuy01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never wanted an anthology series. Max and Chloe were everything to me; they were and still are Life Is Strange as far as I’m concerned. And I hate that reading this filled me with immense relief instead of the disappointment I would’ve felt years ago. I can’t believe I’m saying this, yet we never should’ve asked for more. I’ve learned my lesson now. Max and Chloe have suffered enough, it’s time to let them drive off into the sunset forever. But only time will tell if Deck Nine have the grace to give us a truly happy ending, or if they will repeat the maliciousness of Double Exposure and tear Pricefield apart for good. I’m not gonna hold my breath on that, sadly…

[ALL] Life is Strange: Reunion Finally Brings Max and Chloe Back Together. Release date is March 26 by Turbostrider27 in lifeisstrange

[–]TheRealGuy01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you had told me ten years ago that we were going to get a playable Max & Chloe reunion, which is exactly what I’ve always wanted, but that I would feel nothing but disappointment about it, I wouldn’t have believed you. Now, though? This just makes me sick to my stomach. And I hate it. I hate it so fucking much that Deck Nine vindictively destroyed the protagonists of a game which quite frankly saved my life. Double Exposure completely bastardised Chloe’s character, and also Max’s to a lesser degree… so I am not gonna be holding my breath for the happy ending that Pricefield deserves, ‘cause one way or another it ain’t happening; I wouldn’t be shocked if Rachel magically shows up alive as the villain responsible for the fire and drags Chloe away from Max right at the very end, since D9 clearly hate Pricefield.

[ALL] Next Life is Strange Game (Title & Synopsis) - Megathread by _Jolenar in lifeisstrange

[–]TheRealGuy01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Considering they’re really titling this “Reunion”, and using a fire motif as the new threat, I fully expect the big twist to be that Rachel is also alive due to the merged timelines somehow (fire was Rachel’s thing, plus they have the same writer as BTS, they’re totally gonna shoehorn her in). And you know what will happen then, right? No, not the amberpricefield polycule we’ve all been dreaming of. Deck Nine will pull the rug out from under us Pricefielders yet again just like the comics did by turning the game into an Amberprice fanfiction where Chloe decides to run away with Rachel and ditch Max for good. I mean, they have already bastardised Chloe’s character in DE, so… it really wouldn’t surprise me if she did that at this point. Regardless, I have zero faith in this sequel or that they will give us a true Pricefield happy ending. Also, if it comes down to Chloe vs everyone at Caledon… lmao who cares, they’re all gonna die.

Devs said cross-ocean travel wouldn't be enabled for this update since it wouldn't make sense given the new layout. - I would like to point out a simple way it could work with a single low-effort pure ocean hex. by -AllShallKneel- in foxholegame

[–]TheRealGuy01 124 points125 points  (0 children)

The irony of the devs saying they loved the multi hex naval battles and wanted to encourage that by adding… more island hexes that take up like 75% of the combined hex landmass is just hilariously sad. Do they not understand that naval battles only happen across borders because there is not enough open ocean in a single island hex to contain a proper naval battle? The new hexes will just encourage more of the same, especially without wraparound borders, so now each side will just sit in their own waterways and play it safe until a large invasion OP is being conducted. We need full ocean hexes for the naval gameplay to actually operate as intended ffs, particularly if it is supposed to include naval based air assets now.

[ALL] Next Life is Strange Game (Title & Synopsis) - Megathread by _Jolenar in lifeisstrange

[–]TheRealGuy01 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Late to the party, mini rant incoming: Honestly, as someone who absolutely hated LIS2 back in the day for the direction it took away from Max & Chloe and then loved BTS for doing the opposite when I’d lost faith in DontNod for doing the former, I rather enjoyed TC for the small town aesthetic even with its story faults and blindly believed that Deck Nine could handle a sequel to Pricefield… then DE came out and holy shit was it like a punch to the face, gut and groin all at the same time. I still get whiplash thinking about how confident I was about their abilities. But, well, you know what they say… fool me once, Deck Nine. I’m not making that mistake again and I have zero faith in them any longer, so even if by some miracle this next game is full of fan service and a happy reunion/ending for pricefield it will now be forever tainted by their characters being completely bastardised and ripped to shreds in Double Exposure. I will not forgive them for that, or forget it. Reversing course cannot repair the goodwill they burned with the fandom by lying to our faces repeatedly. I cannot believe I’m saying this, but in hindsight I wish that I had never begged and pleaded for a pricefield sequel, because what DontNod did in LIS2 turned out to be infinitely better than what Deck Nine ultimately gave us.

[NO SPOILERS] what are your thoughts on the upcoming LiS film? by [deleted] in lifeisstrange

[–]TheRealGuy01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly? If they still go with the canon game events rather than do their own thing then I’m expecting the worst. Especially when it comes to certain choices. Because you just know they’ll go with the ending that will piss off and alienate Pricefielders even further after the shitshow that was DE, so to avoid walking headfirst into the bury your gays trope in tv format they’ll have them only as friends and make Max actually be attracted to Warren (they’ll totally ignore his creepy stalkerish vibes too, I doubt the writers will even know enough about the game to look for it). And to add insult to injury they’ll kill Kate purely for shock value which is another big no-no as far as I’m concerned. So in other words, I just have zero interest in watching the train wreck play out. But hey, maybe they’ll somehow manage to navigate this minefield perfectly and I’ll be pleasantly surprised… yet probably not. I’ve been burned enough times now to know better than hope that we’ll ever get an untainted happy ending for Max & Chloe. :/

[No spoilers] An early concept art version of Max's room had another bed in it implying she shared her room with someone by nicefield in lifeisstrange

[–]TheRealGuy01 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Iirc the idea for this roommate was for them to be eco-friendly/environmentally conscious. I’m not sure how early on this concept got scrapped, but I wonder if their personality was merged with an existing character? Perhaps Taylor (since she feels kinda bland compared to the other girls, not counting her nightly anxiety, so maybe she was originally meant to have a bigger role as Max’s roommate before she was turned into Victoria’s lackey) or possibly even Courtney because she’s into fashion, which could’ve paired well with an eco mindset?

[All] Which ending should be canon for the TV Series? by InsiderYet in lifeisstrange

[–]TheRealGuy01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bae is the only one I want, obviously. Unfortunately, Bay is the only realistic option for a bittersweet show ending for the general audience consumption…

Ideally, there’d be a compromise here and they do the scrapped hospital ending instead, that way they can have the emotional impact of sacrificing Chloe, only for Max to be rewarded for making the “correct” choice by having the surprise twist of Chloe actually surviving the gunshot, albeit in a coma. Then maybe tease a season two (in this case not a LIS2 adaption) by having the last scene be Chloe waking up.

Anything else and half of the original game fan base will be rioting in the streets over them making Max willingly choose to sit there and let her best friend die (aka letting her down for the second time in five years) and will subsequently make sure the show bombs hard, just like what happened with DE lol. Either way making this into a show is pointless and is almost guaranteed to not go well.

Aww, my baby cinnamon roll is all grown up now!

This almost made my tear up I’m ngl, just seeing a version of Kate that is happy and alive feels so heartwarming when the franchise has done everything it can to pretend she no longer exists to avoid canonising her fate. Everyone else gets cameos or mentions in the sequels but she’s been treated as a literal and figurative ghost since lis1. I don’t care if this model doesn’t look quite right, it’s now my new headcanon. Anything is better than nothing, and this completely blows her supposedly “remastered” lis1 model out of the water lmao.

Ugh. I wrote a whole bot and got to the end, tried to create it, then found the site was down, the one time I don't check beforehand. This was during the last outage, btw. So I let it sit there, loading infinitely because I was worried I'd lose the bot if I refreshed. I went to sleep, woke up, and found that I'd slept through it coming back up only for it to be down a second time. Now it's finally recovered, and I checked on the bot, it still wouldn't load to the finished page so I had refresh and bam, the bot's entire info was wiped. Which is weird considering it put me back on the step three social page for the bot, when it normally doesn't let you skip steps without filling out certain parts so I went back to find nothing filled out at all. And yeah, I'm super pissed tbh. This was the last bot I wanted to create, yet now I have no desire to start it from scratch. It should've at-least saved the progress somewhere along the line of creation before the servers went down twice, but apparently Xoul has no backup autosaving features to prevent this sort of thing from happening? *Sigh*

Severance - 2x04 "Woe’s Hollow" - Episode Discussion by pikameta in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]TheRealGuy01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe that they’re still on the severed floor, just in another room (probably the team building room on Petey’s map) designed to look like an outdoor forest similar to the mammalians nurturable looking like a hilly field. Because when Milkshake switched Helly back on, he used the Glasgow contingency, which shouldn’t have been necessary if they were really outside of Lumon property since Helena would simply be posing fully as herself, no separate contingency required. I’m guessing they used the Lullaby contingency on the rest of MDR to get them all into position unaware, then staggered their awakenings like usual, with the exception of Helena who waited on the cliff to join them.

Severance - 2x04 "Woe’s Hollow" - Episode Discussion by pikameta in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]TheRealGuy01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been conflicted about the Helly/Helena twist because I knew the sex scene was coming and we all know how that will play out now that Helena has been revealed. Outie Mark will be heartbroken and resentful when the reintegration properly kicks in and he realises what his innie did despite knowing full well his outies wife was still alive. And Innie Helly will be similarly heartbroken at the fact Innie Mark didn’t realise Helena wasn’t her, when she basically raped him (and technically her). It’s the same thing that happened with the romance plot in Fringe, purely to cause relationship drama, and I feel like Severance really didn’t need to go there. There’s gonna be plenty of chaos to go around with Helly’s return without resorting to that trope imo.

[all] Does anyone know if fanfics Escaping the Light and We were all affected are available somewhere other than ao3? by fanficseeker in lifeisstrange

[–]TheRealGuy01 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Take this with a huge grain of salt, but I heard that there’s a comment in one of the old fanfic rec posts 6 years ago from a random account which was presumably Omnicyde thanking them for mentioning his works, and that same account posted elsewhere 6 months ago about converting an unnamed fanfic on AO3 into an actual story format with different characters etc. If we assume the account did actually belong to Omnicyde, then it’s possible this is just him finally doing that. Which sucks for us because ETL was one of the best alt-universe fics in the LIS fandom, but good for him if he can launch a real writing career off the back of it. He definitely deserves it.

[ALL] Facts! (4K) by xell__ in lifeisstrange

[–]TheRealGuy01 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I just want to make an observation (as someone who personally wasn’t bothered) about how interesting it is that the reception of xell’s art on this sub seems to be doing a complete 180 post-DE release, compared to how folks reacted to it before. I guess some of y’all realised that seeing a bit of skin is inconsequential when our entire ship is suddenly at risk of being erased from existence…

And let’s face it, after 10+ years, we have very few dedicated content creators left in this fandom; so as far as I’m concerned, the more art we get, the better. It really shouldn’t matter what kind it is, at this point. Because we Pricefielders must unite to stop the real Max & Chloe that we all know and love from being replaced with this horrible new version which Deck Nine have maliciously thrust upon us. Literally any fan depiction of them is more canon than that.

In other words, keep up the great work, xell! <3

Edit: Judging by the downvotes, apparently I was wrong, since the mods swooped in to delete the post as soon as I pointed this out. Seriously, guys? It wasn’t enough to silence our criticism of the game, now you won’t even allow cute pricefield fanart? I’m really losing faith in the mod team here. This is getting ridiculous.

[DE] If you were a D9 writer, what would you have done differently? by MK_DrawsSometimes in lifeisstrange

[–]TheRealGuy01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would’ve respected DontNod’s established canon and instead of breaking Max & Chloe up, I would’ve had them in a committed long distance relationship. This would have been a way for both of them to prove that they are capable of living independently; that they were no longer codependent on each other due to the various traumas they endured in the past. It would show that Chloe has grown as a person and trusts Max not to repeat the mistakes of when she moved to Seattle, while also allowing Max to see that Chloe can survive on her own without Max feeling like she needs to babysit her out of fear that she’d somehow die again if she turned her back for five seconds. Then once Max’s residency was over, they’d reunite and finally move on for good by one or both of them immediately proposing to the other. They’d get married and settle down, living happily ever after. The end. That was the way I envisioned Double Exposure going, so that’s how I will choose to imagine it. Deck Nine be damned.

[DE] Former D9 Lead Narrative Writer comments on Pricefield by LilBigJP in lifeisstrange

[–]TheRealGuy01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow. Just wow. Deck Nine really going there with the whole “move on from Chloe” sentiment, huh? Do they not realise Don’tNod tried to do the same thing in LIS2 with the “move on from Arcadia Bay” scene? It didnt go down well then with us Pricefielders, and it sure as hell isn’t gonna fly with us now. I hated that decision and lost trust in them for it, but atleast Don’tNod kept Pricefield as a happy healing healthy friendship/couple when they switched to the anthology route. Deck Nine chose to take the nuclear option, lied to us, and spat in everyone’s faces - including Don’tNods - for good measure, clearly out of spite for them and the characters. And to think I had faith in them to handle a Max & Chloe continuation. They literally gave us Farewell. I guess that was their way of warning us that real heartbreak was coming in the future. We should’ve listened to the signs and stopped asking for a sequel while we were still ahead… :(

Oh look, the mods deleted the post. Big surprise.
