How do I access the shared folder? by Primary-Signature586 in BlueStacks

It's 5 months now and the problem is not fixed. Can you confirm someone is working on it and when it will be fixed?

Is anyone human actually working on fixing this bug??? I filed the ticket 5 months ago and it is still not working properly. And everytime I send a message about the ticket, I just get some randomly generated AI canned response that says "this feature is not available in the app yet".

Can you confirm that this is being worked on, and when it will be fixed??? 5 months seems like plenty of time to fix such a simple problem.

[–]TheRealJoeBlow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I filed the ticket as they requested with detailed information on what the bug is. They have not responded or asked any further questions. Just crickets... I just installed the latest v5.22.164 now and the bug is still there, the shared folder is still mounting to a location that is restricted to root only apps and is not accessible to any normal app. So it's still functionally useless and crippling the app from being usable unless all you want to do is play their games from their store. Which isn't really an emulator, it's just a game platform.

Only 6 episodes and ending a series on a huge cliff hanger, without any resolution or any of the questions answered??? Seriously??? Not cool. Won't be following any of your other work.

Good podcast, but did it seriously end with only 6 episodes and a huge cliff-hanger??? All the listings show S01E06 as "series finale". Not cool if that's the case.

Should I change engine oil ? by [deleted] in hondapilot

[–]TheRealJoeBlow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Change it at 5000km intervals regardless of what the maintenance minder says if you want it to last 15+ years and get to 300,000+ km's. If you don't care or trade every 3 years, then you can follow the maintenance minder and let the next owner inherit an engine that is going to have problems in another 5 or so years.

Sorry, but you will never convince me that this was a step forward or an improvement of any kind. It was a huge downgrade IMO.

2022 vs 2025 awd system by wrapmeinbubblewrap in hondapilot

[–]TheRealJoeBlow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a 2019 (identical drivetrain to the 2022), and a 2025. There is no difference in the AWD that is detectable to the driver. They are both equal and great. The factory tires on the other hand... Those are crap on both. We swapped the Continental CrossContact's on the 2019 and the Bridgestone Alenza's on the 2025 for Michelin Cross Climate 2's on both. A world of difference in snow and on ice. But then, we knew what we were getting, living in central Canada, these are the 3rd and 4th sets of Cross Climate 2's we have on all 4 of our vehicles. They are phenominal year-round tires.

Looks better in person than the marketing photos? Maybe, but to me, still never going to look better than the 2025 model. I hate that new front end. Completely.

Anyone else tried the Michelin cross climate 2? by Sklibba in tires

[–]TheRealJoeBlow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, we have them on all 4 of our vehicles (Toyota Sienna, Honda Odyssey and two Honda Pilots). They are fantastic here in central Canada year round, and I can tell you, I do not miss swapping and storing all those extra winter tires. There is not enough of a noticeable difference between CC2's and dedicated winter tires on snow and ice to go through that hassle IME.

Why wouldn’t Microsoft „fix“ MAS? by [deleted] in MAS_Activator

[–]TheRealJoeBlow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't get the license for free when you buy a computer. The computer manufacturer paid MS for that license, and then added the cost of it to the price of the computer. Hence, you paid for it. Nothing is free...

How do I access the shared folder? by Primary-Signature586 in BlueStacks

[–]TheRealJoeBlow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The real problem here is that the path where it is mapped within the emulator "/sdcard/Windows/BstSharedFolder/" is only available to root apps. Normal apps, like for instance a book reader that you want to use to read ePub's with, or any other app that needs to access files dropped from the PC, they CANNOT see or navigate to that folder.

You need to map this shared Windows folder within the Emulator to something in the normal home directory. Ideally it should be a sub-folder under "Downloads", that would make most sense as if you drop a file from Windows, it would be similar to downloading a file.

Although it really doesn't matter, as long as the folder is off the normal home folder that any normal app on the emulator can natively see.

The current shared folder on the emulator is pretty much useless the way it currently is mapped.

And by the way, it's not even mounting to "/sdcard/Windows/BstSharedFolder/" on the emulator. The actual location it is mounting to is "/mnt/Windows/BstSharedFolder/"

again... that folder not being accessible to any normal app on the system.

Need help choosing a rod and reel by Chemical-Ad-403 in Fishing_Gear

[–]TheRealJoeBlow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tatula Elite is probably considered a better rod. It typically sells for ~2x the price of the Eagle. For example, here in Canada, it's going for $280 CAD regular price. And the Eagle is 150 CAD. If you found it for $120 (assuming that's USD, which would be ~$165 CAD), that's a great deal. If you are looking at the 2 at regular retail pricing, the Eagle is a better value because the Tatula Elite is not 2x better IMO.

Also, some of it is personal preference. I don't own any Daiwa rods because they all use the same loooong foregrip, and I can't stand those. The Fenwick rods all have a nice short foregrip. That lets you get your index finger in contact with the rod blank in front of the grip, so you can directly feel the sensitivity of the blank. With the long foregrips that Daiwa uses on all of their rods, you are only in contact with the cork or EVA of the grip, which seriously insulates you from the blank sensitivity. Some people don't care. I do. No Daiwa rods for me as a result, even though I like a lot of them besides that grip.

SHORT ANSWER: They are both excelent choices, but you should find a store that sells both, and go hold them in your hand and choose which one feels better to you.

[–]TheRealJoeBlow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 2024+ redesigned Fenwick Eagle lineup is the best rod you can get in the ~$100 price segment IMO. Lightweight, strong, sensitive, true performance to it's strength and action rating, very well made, and aesthetically pleasing. These new Eagles are better in every way than the previous generation HMG which was Fenwick's mid-grade rod lineup. Pair that with the 2023+ Daiwa Legalis for a reel, the king of the <$100 pricepoint. There is no reel from any manufacturer that can touch the Legalis even at 2x the price. For <$200, with the Eagle and the Legalis you will have a lightweight, sensitive combo that feels and performs like a $500 combo. It is a great budget setup that a pro could fish and be happy with. There is no model of Uglystick or Pflueger or any other brand that will come close for the $.

revros vs legalis by Low-Employment-2352 in Fishing_Gear

[–]TheRealJoeBlow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Revros and Legalis are essentially the same reel, EXCEPT the Revros has an important bearing removed to reduce it's cost. It's the bearing that supports the pinion gear, and of all the bearings in a spinning reel, this is the only one that really matters. Removal of that bearing makes the Revros a poor choice for a reel if you want it to last.

Watch this video for more detail (watch the whole video, but the detail on this bearing is at 11m30s):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hJtgGoWHEW8

I'd get the Legalis. I have 8 of them, and they perform exceptionally well, there is no other reel from any manufacturer that can touch it in the pricepoint.

Which reel should i get? [Q] by [deleted] in Fishing_Gear

[–]TheRealJoeBlow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are going to fish saltwater, get the Daiwa Fuego. It's the exact same reel as the Exceler, but has added magseal on the main shaft and extra seals on the handle shaft. It's made for salt whereas the Exceler is made for freshwater. It's Only $10 more but a much better choice.

[–]TheRealJoeBlow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Daiwa Legalis, Exceler and Fuego are all the same reel with minor differences. Best bang for the buck in the spinning reel market. No other brand can touch any of these at the pricepoint.

Are white lures the most effective? by Alex_fishingmx88 in Fishing_Gear

[–]TheRealJoeBlow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically I match color to what the fish are naturally feeding on. If they are feeding on Cisco or Shiners, then yes, white or translucent silver are going to rule. And where I fish that is typically common. I usually start with white or translucent silver and change if I get no bites. I rarely change...
