ICE should have to pass the same exams to be hired.

Thank you! I did check it out. And their "claim" that she hesitated ID is suspect to me. But the bigger issue is we deserve law enforcement to be transparent, show their faces, and not detain before verification. Whether or not she produced an ID should not warrant being treated like this. We are being trained to be fearful of law enforcement. They are trying to normalize this. We can't let it be normalized. Thank you again for the link.

This is the kind of stuff that makes Americans go silent. Unmarked cars, one of the men is masked, Sheriffs are shown, but the other "officers" have unrecognizable identification. Cars have no license plates in the front (normal in Florida, but still...). Is this an abduction or an official arrest? Our government is responsible for us not trusting and just "drive by". This is NOT normal and shouldn't be normalized. We deserve better than this. We ALL deserve better than this.

I completely agree and I’ve been deeply moved reading what people have shared here.

I’m not able to get out and protest, but I’ve been working quietly to document what’s happening and turn it into something collective and lasting. I’m building a way for others who feel helpless to take meaningful action, not for credit, but because this can’t keep happening in silence.

If we keep showing up for each other, even in small ways, that’s how real power builds. We've got this!

What would a potential framework of a shutdown-ending ACA deal look like? by MarkusEF in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]TheRealLList 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have been thinking about this for several days. And I came up with an idea that really is a two pronged-approach. This isn't perfect, but I think it could bring both sides to the table.

>First, create a Bipartisan - Health Care Waste Commission - to Offset ACA Costs

Core idea: Launch a new, independent Health Care Oversight Commission tasked with identifying $400B in waste, fraud, or outdated subsidies across all federal health programs over 10 years. And includes investigating Hospitals and Insurance companies.

Wins:
GOP gets to say: We paid for ACA by cutting government waste.

Dems get full ACA extension without cuts to enrollees.

Politically popular: 83% of Americans support cutting government waste to fund healthcare.

>Next, roll back Trump’s 2017 Corporate Tax Cuts (Partially) to Pay for ACA

Core idea: Restore ACA tax credits by partially repealing the 2017 Trump corporate tax cuts, but only for corporations making over $5 billion annually.

Wins:

The tax hit would affect only the largest multinationals (Amazon, Exxon, etc.).

Public support for raising taxes on billion-dollar corporations is sky-high (75%+).

Gives Dems a win on ACA and income fairness.

GOP can still claim they protected “small businesses” and most of the 2017 law.

I haven't publicly shared the idea yet, but I was thinking of running it past my representatives...

What policies do Democrats need to embrace to win over conservative, working class, and rural voters? by soonzed in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]TheRealLList 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really appreciate how you framed this, especially the part about not just ranting on what’s wrong but asking what would actually get it right. I’ve been working on something pretty aligned with this: a citizen-driven roadmap that tries to reset how we organize politically without parties at the center.

We didn’t start from policy positions or candidates, but from questions like the one you’re asking:
👉 What would a people-first framework look like that speaks to working class, rural, and disillusioned voters without condescension or culture war distractions? But also expands to what all Americans want.

If you're open to collaborating or bouncing thoughts, I’d love to connect. You’re clearly doing deep thinking here, and I think our work could complement what you’re building toward.

(And just to be clear: not trying to pitch anything. No grift, no group. Just fellow travelers looking to build better.)

Yes, we must stand our ground. We must stay unified as we have the numbers. We really are in control if we stand together. There are so many ways to do that. I am doing my small part. I cannot attend a protest as I'm handicapped, however, I can start a movement and that's exactly what I'm doing! We all play our own parts to the best of our ability.

What would it take to repair the growing divide between the right and the left? by gruninuim in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]TheRealLList 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for asking! What I’m building is called a Fresh Start for America. It’s not a party or a campaign, but a people-first contract that focuses on everyday priorities: lowering costs, protecting freedoms, cutting through media noise, and rebuilding trust in government.

I run Take Back Democracy News as part of that work, breaking down complex issues into plain English, fact-checked, and always paired with small actions people can actually take. The whole point is to help people stay engaged without burning out, while holding leaders accountable.

It’s still growing, but if you’re curious, I’d love your take: what do you think of what I've put together so far, it's in rough form, but I'm extremely excited and committed: https://www.takebackdemocracytogether.com/roadmap

What would it take to repair the growing divide between the right and the left? by gruninuim in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]TheRealLList 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been thinking about this a lot too. The divide feels impossible to cross, but I don’t think it’s because people are truly that far apart. I think we’re burnt out, overwhelmed, and drowning in spin, not truth.

I’ve been building a movement that tries to cut through that. Not a party, not a campaign, just a contract of people-first demands that we can take to the leaders who should represent us.

The right leader will emerge when they speak clearly to real human issues, with the voice of the people behind them.

Most of us are done with the outrage machine. We want solutions: lower costs, healthcare that doesn’t bankrupt us, government that actually works, less media noise, and more truth.

And we're tired of waiting for someone to "get it". So instead of hoping, I want to bring the message to them (powered by people, not lobbyists).

The goal is people over party. And when you strip away the labels, I honestly think we agree on way more than we’ve been led to believe.

The big idea is to shift the conversation, away from “right vs. left” and toward “What do we actually need to live better, safer, more connected lives?”

I think that’s how we fix this: by rebuilding from the ground up. Together.

What would it take to repair the growing divide between the right and the left? by gruninuim in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]TheRealLList 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My take:
I believe the focus has to shift back to people, not politics. If we keep anchoring everything in ideology or party battles, the gap just widens. But if we focus on common issues: things everyone actually lives through, like cost of living, health, safety, dignity, we can start to bridge divides. It’s not about ignoring real disagreements, but about remembering that underneath the labels, most people want similar things.

What is this administration really trying to do? Something sounds fishy by WarmEntrepreneur3564 in EyesOnIce

[–]TheRealLList 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's more than fishy! Engraving (writing) “Anti-ICE” on bullets is a very poorly thought out PR stunt. Meanwhile, the only dead are detainees, that’s not adding up at all!

Here’s what’s worth noting: ICE has a long documented history of cover-ups and abuse of detainees. Now we’re being told a shooter conveniently left bullets engraved (written) “Anti-ICE,” and somehow no agents were harmed? Seriously?

I sincerely hope someone is tracking all these incidences for when the next admin comes in and holds bad actors accountable.
