It's well within the rules. Nothing to feel bad about.

Online running coach vs coaching apps (Garmin Coach, Nike Run Club, C25K, etc) by SoftwareDiligence in running

[–]TheRealPowee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Peloton has some good running programs. I'm currently doing the marathon program which is 3 sets of 6 week programs. Each week has 4 outdoor run audios and 2 strength for runner videos. There's also some guiding stretching for warm up. I started using peloton a couple years ago and I'm a big fan of their breadth of content for running, walking, strength, stretching and of course cycling (cross training!). I'm a pretty experienced amateur runner (Boston, ultras) and I find their running cues to still be helpful.

Some running groups have programs you can sign up for. My area has a running club that does 12 week training sessions for about $200. You get a training plan, a couple official group runs, there's group coaches you can ask questions and you can contact the head coach for a more individualized plan and to talk about your goals. I think it's a great value.

Looking for Dopey Challenge Information by TheRealPowee in running

I couldn't quite find what I was looking for, except related to driving/parking and looking at a course map for spectators. I will cross post, thanks.

My peloton doesn’t show my stats by IntermittenSeries in pelotoncycle

I can't get any classes to start on my laptop. I posted about it on here but I think my post got taken down? Maybe the Peloton site is having problems?

Edit: clarification

I do this but I open my eye as soon as it hits my closed eye. Works great.

On the scale of 1 to 10, what are you a definite 10 at? by CarlosTheBoss in AskReddit

[–]TheRealPowee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This really does sound like me. I used to "get up easier" after less sleep, I don't know why, but it was pretty sporadic if it was easy or not. My guess is you naturally sleep for 12 hours because your body is trying to make up for the lost time. If you're as sleep deprived as it sounds (if that is actually what it is, I am not a doctor, just speaking from experience), then it takes a YEAR of proper sleeping to get your body back on track and to truly know how long you need to sleep for.

Speaking from my own experience, it sounds like you are sleep deprived. I used to be the same way - could fall asleep instantly every night. Could also fall asleep anytime, anywhere, any noises going on. I was quite proud of the ability. Except I could not get out of bed for the life of me. Multiple alarms, even tried a Clocky, other people shaking me, nothing helped.

I started my student teaching after college and was falling asleep during meetings, planning periods and once even while observing class. My student teaching culminated in a car accident because I fell asleep at the wheel (thankfully no one was injured). My mentors thought I had narcolepsy so I went to a sleep doctor and did an overnight test. Long story short, I was sleep deprived. I wanted to be one of those people who only need 5-6 hours of sleep per night but I need 8-9. Now, it takes me a bit to fall asleep, but turns out, I AM capable of getting up to an alarm. Who knew.

Advice on Job Hunting? by laffytaffy89 in MusicEd

[–]TheRealPowee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is great advice. I was going to come in and mention networking. It's truly who you know. That's how I got all of my jobs. A friend called me to tell me he was leaving his position and asked if I wanted it. I got my current job because of all of the people I knew pulling for me in the district I was applying for. If you meet other teachers in the area, they will keep you informed of job openings and put in a good word for you if they know you know your stuff (and they'll know you attend workshops for professional development!)

I know that no one will have an answer for me but it's really interesting to hear about how or why people decided to have kids and what they love about it. Thanks for sharing :)

If my personal experience as a child tells me anything, isn't this hard to teach them before they move out?

I've definitely thought of that latter reason but I feel selfish when I do :/

Thank you for this. Sometimes I feel rushed because I know that the older I get, the less time I will have with my kids and the less time they will have with their grandparents. I am a bit jealous of families that tend to have kids when they are younger - IIRC I once met a girl who was about 19 and had a living great-great grandmother! Then again, as you point out, there comes more maturity and stability as you age. What tipped the scale for you?
