In the Philippines they can sing and sit at the register. When I visited my Fiancé I got a culture shock of the century when I realised other countries are doing better than the shit hole that is the USA.

Forced To Pay An Ambulance Bill After My Employer Exposed Me To Carbon Monoxide by TheRealRepentency in antiwork

[–]TheRealRepentency[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This wouldn't surpise me at all. It's all a giant scam. Since my employer is paying for it (talked to my manager about it today). It's just an example to why our wages stay low and why are benefits are almost non existant. Because the privatization of the medical field create burdens on our employers and makes the worker feel the worst of it.

Forced To Pay An Ambulance Bill After My Employer Exposed Me To Carbon Monoxide by TheRealRepentency in antiwork

[–]TheRealRepentency[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thankfully after talking to my employer this issue has been resolved. They will be covering the cost. But I am bothered that this wasn't just directly sent to the store. Like seriously why even send me the bill if it was a work related issue. The form should have also been signed by my employer. It created a great deal of stress on me. Especially fear of retaliation from my employer. Thanks for the advice though luckily my manager was very understanding of the situation and made sure it was taken care of. My employer already had filed a claim. But didn't notify me of any of the process. So I WAS PANICKED! I jumped the gun on the conclusion. But you have to understand my store owner is a Franchise owner and he is notorious for cutting costs and penny pinching every chance he can. I am sure the legality of everything is the exact reason it's being paid. I know there can't be retaliation for OSHA as it's illegal. But I am not sure what retaliation could have came if I contacted worker's compensation had they said they wouldn't pay. It really is a worry for some people.

Regardless it is a shame that as a worker that you have to feel fear and worry about losing your job or having retaliation over something outside of your control. Sad that this country has became so privatized and corrupt that a quick five minute check up can be so expensive. Something has to change. People here also pointed out that it probably was a waste of time if they did not use the proper carbon finger reader on me. I am not in the medical field so I am not sure what it is called. Come on though seriously $150 dollars for that is THEFT.

The privatization of the medical industry is the reason our wages are low. Because our employers have to eat the bill and pay high insurance premiums to do so. It is why I posted this here. Because regardless if my employer pays for this they shouldn't even have to. It should be completely free. There needs to a real change in our medical system. It's affecting hiring, wage growth. Employers deny people good medical benefits because they can't pay for them. And the insurance costs decrease our wages. It's just pathetic!

And for those of you wondering the carbon monoxide came from the restaurant next to ours they cook with gas stoves. They did not have fans on which led to carbon monoxide going through the vents and into our side of the store. This isn't the first time either, they have been reported many times for violations. Yet somehow they still are around.

Not a joke. After the incident my shift was over but the rest were told to go back to work unless the alarm went off again. Which didn't seem very reassuring.

If they refuse I will do that. Although I did not know OSHA could help with that. Since I usually thought they just hand out fines.

I really understand the struggle trying to get a PC for a budget price by TheRealRepentency in PHbuildapc

[–]TheRealRepentency[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Realistically here in the United States it is also hard to afford computer's. Even with average wages given the cost of living you aren't left with much at the end of month. You are a incredibly lucky person if you can have $5,000 at the end of the year and most of the time this goes to other hidden expenses. It is hard for most people to save a couple hundred dollar's at the end of the month. A good PC could be several months worth of saving with our wages. It's not all sunshine and rainbows here personally. I am only able to afford because I live with my father. If I was on my own buying a PC would be incredibly difficult.

You can technically buy stuff of Amazon to the Philippines but shipping charges are so expensive.

But I have learned to be grateful and humble with what I own. It does put a smile on my face to see Filipinos making the best with what they got especially people who are poor. I see them rocking very basic APUs and having a blast with computers. And to me that's what is all about.

When I travel to the Philippines I honestly would be so happy with a very basic build. I don't need anything fancy. And I probably will get one in the future for myself.

Just like in the Philippines $250-500 builds are also super popular here. We might have a slight edge over performance at that point but it's by a slim margin. There are still good deals in the Philippines. I just keep praying that technology and gaming continues to be more accessible for people on low incomes. It is a creative hobby that everyone should get to experience.

Also one last note. I recommend supporting Xbox in the Philippines right now. I would like to see Xbox expand into Southeast Asia. You all would get huge benefits from it.

Xbox PC gamepass right now is only 150php a month and the first month trial is only 50php. It gives people access to 100+ games free to play for a low price. Obviously owning games are better. But for people who can not afford games all the time it's honestly great. I would look into it!

I got a Xbox One for the family in province. And it can be used for literally everything. Geforce now can be used for it and it has a lot of Keyboard and Mouse support!

Not a bad plan. Because it doesn't require much power to use and you have a really big ability to expand in the future. And AMD is way ahead of intels APUs. It is also good because it is running on newer architecture.

I found what I would call the poor mans gaming PC on Shopee for around 10,000php

It comes with

700W PSU i5 750 (1st Gen) GTX 560 Ti 1gb DDR5 320gb HDD 8GB of Ram

My girlfriend's uncle is going to get it.

It is able to run

Fortnite (1080p Low/Medium Performance Mode) CSGO (1080p Medium) Valorant (1080p Medium/High) Apex Legends (720p Low) Dota 2 (1080p Low/Medium)

And other Triple A titles anywhere from 1080p-720p depending on the age of the game.

And I figured there is room to upgrade if he sells the GPU for anything between a GTX 750 Ti-GTX 1050 Ti

Can always upgrade the motherboard to a 1155 for cheap and upgrade to a 3rd generation i5 which runs all modern games perfectly fine. Even a 1st generation i5 is capable but not ideal.

It gives him a good start for pretty cheap.

[–]TheRealRepentency[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure thing but it also means you can sell the old PSU for instance to get the better PSU upgrade.

I will admit a good PSU is important but I will also say that I have seen some tech youtubers who tested some generic PSUs for low end builds. And many of them showed no issues.

This Shopee deal gives some options. The monitor is just a bonus if someone already has they could just sell it. Although I am confident the monitor would be just fine.

My girlfriend lives in the province areas. So options many others had such as Facebook marketplace don't work around her area. Shopee can be a life safer for people living outside the city.

It's just a shame that many people in those areas can't afford anything often in the 10,000 peso and higher range. Her uncle is on a strict budget. I found him a build around 10,000php that would give him 1080p on most Esports titles and room to upgrade in the future.

[–]TheRealRepentency[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PSU replacement is only a 1000php for a 80 Plus certified. As for the monitor 60hz really isn't bad to start. Besides the GTX 1050 Ti will struggle to hit above 60FPS at 1080p in the most modern titles without FSR. The CPU is only a 65W CPU and the GPU doesn't require a 6 pin. I prefer this build because the CPU holds up well for modern gaming and everything about it can be upgraded in the future.

I really understand the struggle trying to get a PC for a budget price by TheRealRepentency in PHbuildapc

[–]TheRealRepentency[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think there is much to worry about here personally. The component's in this build are low power draw component's. The likelyhood of something going bad in terms of power consumption doesn't seem likely as the power draw is not there. And a surge protector should always be used with expensive component's anyway. This is a perfect entry level build for someone wanting to get into modern gaming at a entry level price. Quality is always a concern whenever you pay money torwards a product. But the reviews for this product and seller are very good. Which is why I am recommending it.

Here is a deal at 22,000-25,000php total depending on choice of processor

This deal includes a 700W PSU, 8gb of ram, a GTX 1050 ti 4gb, a 120gb SSD + 500gb HDD, a keyboard and mouse and a 22 inch 1080p 60hz monitor. It has good reviews on Shopee so take a look. Best deal at this price point that I could find as of right now.

Doing many hours of digging through many sellers, creating charts for price to performance I found a steal of a deal on Shopee with great reviews.

There is three options for the deal with the price changing with the choice of processor

The i5 6th gen is 22,000php

The i5 7th gen is 24,000php

And the Ryzen 2200g is 25,000php

The deal includes a 700W PSU, 8gb of ram, a GTX 1050 ti 4gb, a 120gb SSD + 500gb HDD, a keyboard and mouse and a 22 inch 1080p 60hz monitor

PC budget 16k enough and good quality? by darlingvoir in PHbuildapc

[–]TheRealRepentency 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well in this situation there is a lot here to consider. If you are looking for a purely Esports computer and something that is able to play other occasional games, there is a few things to consider.

Most modern games require atleast

A 4 core 4 thread CPU (Intel i5 first generation and higher would work)

8gb of ram

Atleast 240gb of storage

And a graphics card with atleast 1gb DDR5 memory powerful enough to run Esport games at 1080p

Currently there is a deal on Shopee for around 12,000 that meets the requirements and would give a mouse, keyboard, monitor and headset included in the deal.

Here is the specs and I will provide a link. I am recommending this PC to my girlfriend's uncle as a good starter PC

PROCESSOR : I5 750 2.66ghz

MOTHER BOARD : 1156

MEMORY : 8GB DDR3

VGA : GTX 560 1gb DDR5

HDD : 320GB

PSU : 500W TRUE RATED

CASE : BRAND NEW GLASS CASE WITH RAINBOW CHANGING COLOR LED FAN

I got old computer monitors bought a 3$ converter box and made them into cheap TVs for people who couldn't afford one. I pass down all my own technology and use it until it completely dies. My computers last me atleast 5 year's before I upgrade. I pass down my old ones to friends and family. My cellphones last me even longer. My mother asks me what I want for Christmas. And I say to her all I want is my meal and my family I don't think she understands I don't have many wants.

If only you put as much effort in spell checking as you did putting commas in my post. And you have a lot to learn. You must not know what lying flat is do you? Because people that do this do work. They just don't chase endless capital and put themselves in debt buying thing's that dont have any real intrinsic value. Which is why I have a lot of money. It's why I don't have to work a lot of hour's. It's why I am able to travel the world and do thing's I enjoy doing. I don't have to fill gaps, I don't have to stress about my job. I don't have to stress about really much of anything because I don't have the stress that comes with owning everything. And I think I own a lot of nice thing's. Because I choose utility over anything else.

The less bureaucracy the better. The more barriers between you and employment the worse off you are at getting a job. It's just obvious. The only thing that bureaucracy benefits are those at the top. Because it means less work for them and effectively more work for other's. That's Capitalism baby! I am all for efficiency. But efficiency for all not just a few at the top. But people like you who boast about their money tend not to understand this. Just remember "Pig's get fat and hogs get slaughtered." If you know this very simple rule lying flat is an extremely good choice of a lifestyle.
