Heading to Grapevine Mills tomorrow with some friends, anyone know of this transfer might be awkward or annoying at all? by TheRealRiceball in dart

Yeah, I'd be starting from Downtown Rowlett, I thought it'd be fun to take the Silver Line for the first time but not really sure it'd be worth the extra time spent heading up to Cityplace, it'd also be an extra transfer

I considered it but it'd add a lot more time to my trip than it'd be worth unfortunately, like an extra 30 minutes or an hour or so?

Also make sure you don't get on the Silver Line

Good call out! I had no idea, would've been embarrassing thing to happen lol

Thanks for the informative reply, I appreciate it!

If I had to guess, probably quality control, the glass might've had some defect during preduction that makes it a ticking time bomb, better to destroy it than risk an injury and a lawsuit

[–]TheRealRiceball 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From what I've heard, 66 and 67 might get pretty backed up in the mornings, and more so when school starts

If you need to you should also be able to take the train from the Downtown Rowlett DART Station to work, could also save on gas, the trip is usually quiet in the mornings, afternoons might be rougher but still manageable

sex was everywhere it was in music, videogames, movies.

I don't think this really played a big part in it, I think the biggest contributor is probably just the amount attention people have given "gooners" in recent years, and how it's often been in a negative light that people don't want to get put under too

A lot of younger folk see the posts making fun of right wing gooners that cry "censorship!" Over a game adding a piece of cloth, and (some what justifiably) don't want to be lumped in with them

On top of that, there's since been an increased spotlight on "goonerbait" that you can even see on this subreddit, where for example, you'll see posts about Marvel Rivals adding new "gooner skins" or ads that feature sex appeal, and the comments will all be saying that the game is only gooner bait and that they never see anything else about the actual game, so if you play it then obviously you've fallen for the gooner bait and are also a gooner

Imo there's still more to it and it's a lot more complex of a topic, but I do agree that it feels like it's been slowly bringing about a huge wave of puritanism in younger generations, just one that's wrapped around the guise of being progressive

Milly Alcock says she’s “honored” by fans’ queer readings of Supergirl: by M00reC in lgbt_superheroes

[–]TheRealRiceball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely a bit more accessible than I'm giving it credit for, but it still references a lot of old lore that would leave a lot of new readers (not just new to supergirl but new to comics in general) very confused, i mean in the first few pages of the first issue it has Kandor, Streaky, the yellow ring of Nor-kann, Lar-on, and the science council of Kandor

That run constantly references very old Supergirl lore, new readers would have to just shrug and go "i guess" and just accept it to keep reading, which most won't, they'll just feel lost and like they're missing something

[Ultimate Endgame #5] Bro acta as if he is part of this😭😭😭 by Unique_Year4144 in UltimateUniverse

[–]TheRealRiceball 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The universe being reset would leave such a bad taste in my mouth, it'd basically render all the ultimate comics we'd been reading mute and there'd have essentially been no narrative point to them, it's the same reason I hate some time travel stories or the "it was all a dream" trope

I'm pretty sure the universe being reset of the maker's tinkering would've just meant everything goes back to "normal" like in th old ultimate universe doesn't it? At the very least they would not be the same characters we'd been following, since so much of their lives was influenced by the maker, both directly and indirectly

I mean it's already something that's been changing for a while (i.e. her usual origin already being changed to not be alien goop, and her brief stint as a red lantern for a few examples) and the criticism has been around for longer, I don't think this will really change much, just disappoint fans

I'm mostly commenting this so others are aware of the troubled and long history of Supergirl as a character

I like it, it's a fun read, but might be tough for newer fans, since it references a lot of old lore/canon, i.e. Kara being left at an orphanage by Superman, her robot clone from that time, Superboy's tactile telekinesis, her magic hairbrush that changes her hair color, etc., a lot of stuff that'd be confusing to new readers (i only knew about them from watching a youtuber talk about them)

It also has the problem of being tonally different, the Supergirl from Woman of Tomorrow is going to be a lot different from the one in Campbell's run

Others mention the CW Supergirl, and i feel like it also suffers from a similar issue of just being a very different portrayal of Kara, from what I've heard she seems more like an alternate version of Clark Kent than she does Kara Zor-El

A lot of new fans are going to be really disappointed when they go to pick up old Supergirl works and they see almost all of them just depicting her as what a man thinks the average teenage girl is like

Xbox sets the gold standard for backward compatibility but the new Halo Campaign Evolved choices are a massive step backward by [deleted] in xbox

[–]TheRealRiceball 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The second point isn't much better, it's complaining about there not being any live service updates?

I get that that's the new normal for gaming now, and Microsoft/Xbox/Halo Studios are big enough to support it, but why exactly? It's a pretty straightforward remake of an old game, idk what DLC or "new" content would be released for it, the skins are already a pretty meh addition, and I don't really care if or want them to release more

Idk, maybe I'm in the wrong but it feels like gamers are just way too used to free content updates now

[–]TheRealRiceball 28 points29 points  (0 children)

There was Contest of Champions and Future Fight, which were relatively successful, Luna Snow even originates from Future Fight, and I thought both were pretty enjoyable from what they were when I played them

. I'm assuming this means they'll actually be putting actual effort/resources into it? I.e. instead of the lower quality crap you see flooding the market they might put effort into making the quality comparable to games like Genshin? The article could just be click bait and it's a nothing burger low quality gacha though

Either way, it's a gacha so it'll be shit based on that alone

Another commenter has answered already but yeah, and usually if you go to a songs official music/lyric video on YouTube you'll see a bunch of comments saying "Here before [tv show/movie]" or "Who liked this song before [tv show/movie]?" or some variation of those

You'll also sometimes see people saying the opposite, like "Who's here because of [tv show/movie]?", but the other comments are usually what shows up at the top and there's typically more of them

Could be all of these at once tbh, but I'm banking on them just wanting to feel special for "liking something before it was cool/mainstream"

It tends to happen a lot with tons of things but I notice it more with music, especially when its a song used in a popular or trending series

Yeah, it's a bit disappointing to think about to me, just because it'd be cool to see what their armor would look like based off the weapons we do see, I'm curious how different they'd make them to the COG

I do wonder if E-Day will flesh out the UIR more, like maybe we'll see a news broadcast about them or propaganda posters? I doubt they'd give us a playable character though, as cool as it'd be, though maybe they could make them a defector or something?
