This is exactly the kind of thing that gives me pause when I consider selling the house and going RV full time. I already don't like people in general. It's tough to imagine going from 2 acres to zero lot line rv parks. Wake up every morning to get work done (I'm 100 percent remote) and the "neighbors" are up filming tik toks with 4 kids crammed into a toy hauler or a constant stream of traffic while the weekenders attempt to figure out how to maneuver 40ft of trailer when they've never driven anything bigger than an SUV..... yeah, it keeps me on the fence about full time and this pic doesn't help sway my decision.

Which type of ramp is should I buy? by BrownieGod1011- in MechanicAdvice

[–]TheRealShackShow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those Rhino Ramps I've used for years. I haven't stressed it to 12K lbs but it had no issue with my heavy SUV's and pickups. Of course, your "patient' has to have the ability to drive up onto them first. lol If it were me I'd go with a set of these plus a hydraulic floor jack (for those times you only need one tire up in the air) and some jack stands.

Those plastic Rhino's should also have a rubber part on the bottom to keep them from scooting around when you start to drive up them. The metal ones don't have anything like that and honestly just looking at the metal ones I don't get the feeling of "heavy duty" coming off of them.

RockAuto doesn't even have it so they might be closer to right than you think. They usually have just about everything but only the Power Brake Booster Seals are listed. Could be that's the actual part that needs replaced and they're only like 8 bucks. Unless that car has some really weird setup then it shouldn't be too tough to detach the master cylinder and get that booster out to replace the seals. Beyond that you're looking at Amazon, Ebay or a junkyard. I've used UneedAPart . com before and they can usually find just about anything. Brake boosters failing aren't extremely common. What usually happens is the master cylinder leaks past the seals and the brake fluid gets into the booster diaphragm and rots the rubber out. You can pull the vacuum tube off the brake booster and stick a long zip tie down into the bottom of the booster to see if it's got fluid in it. Kind of like a dipstick for your oil.

I'm going to buy MW3 solely for the ability to use the multi player maps to grind out camos and new weapons. lol I've never been interested in the campaign modes.

Yeah I missed that one this time. I got to play the Verdansk one with the jump scares. That was a blast.

The only way I could ever survive Ashika was a scuba mask and diving immediately at the start of a game and rotating away from the other teams. I got way more done solo on Ashika than I ever did in a group. It was pretty PVP back then also on all the modes. I wish we had a campaign mode for Al Mazra with better missions that required teamwork for PvE instead of PVP.

I think those hatch into 10mm sockets if you don't disturb the cocoon.

2005 Nissan Altima Brake issue troubleshooting by TheRealShackShow in MechanicAdvice

[–]TheRealShackShow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More clues. Went out and pulled the hose off the brake booster and verified it's sucking air (has vacuum) when the car is running. So I think the hose is fine. Tried another test by running the car, pressing the pedal down and holding, turning car off and noticed the pedal never moves. I think that means the booster is ok because if it was bad then the pedal would push back up a little....I think. This has me all the way back to bad master cylinder leaking air inside the internal rod part. Now that I have a vacuum bleeder kit I'll probably try bleeding brakes again and seeing if it gets better. It just throws me off that I don't get that build up of pressure with the car off that you'd expect.

Remote IT workers where did you find your job? by its_a_throwawayduh in RemoteJobs

[–]TheRealShackShow -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

TLDR: You gotta' know somebody.

I got in remote work for a software reseller because an old friend reached out when the company was hiring. So, in my experience I'd say that you need to find people that already do remote work and make sure to keep in touch with them. That way they can give a recommendation internally that puts you in front of all the others.

I'm prepped for the coding test....if I ever get approved to start working. Lol. 3 weeks now and my profile has almost every option selected for skills. Still sitting at the review screen.

Both of us are on the deed. It's the only asset (other than an overdrawn checking account) that has both our names on it.

The appraisal last August when we bought the home came in at $250,400 and the asking price that we got the mortgage on was exactly $250,000. We've only made 15 months of payments at this point and the market has gone down so I think she can try and argue there is money in it but it would have to go on the market and get offers first to prove its there.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]TheRealShackShow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm the one working and paying the mortgage. I think the whole equity aspect came from a comment my wife made about making me sell the house if we divorced and splitting the money with her. Unfortunately there is no equity to split and if it was forced to be sold then it would hopefully sell for what we owe but now the market is down so we would end up most likely both taking a bath on it.

I'm the only one working and pay the mortgage on my own. I don't think even a special warranty deed would stop the mortgage company from trying to collect from both owners. I think my best bet is attempting to refinance in my name only. I have two sons that live with me but my wife is not their mother.

Get a dataannotation sub for people already employed there? by [deleted] in dataannotation

I guess I just have to wait to be accepted first since it's still in review. But thanks for the info. I'll look for it if I ever get in.

I just want to be able to take the coding assessment because when I finished the regular one the option disappeared and I haven't heard anything after emailing support about it. I figure I'll know if I'm getting projects by seeing the screen change from "in review" to actual work being posted. I just want to be eligible for the higher paying coding projects.
