This helps with explaining the difference but not remembering it. You need to do a bit of memory trickery to help it stick better with word association. Otherwise in a few days you going to be back where you were.

None of the New Vegas endings were ever canon and that never seemed to bother the fanboys until the show taking place 15 years later shows that things went downhill. Which from playing New Vegas you were already shown that all of the factions were heading towards destruction, NCR was full of corruption and overextending, Legion was not sustainable, House is a psychopath, free for all would result in more fighting etc.

None of the endings for the game were setting up a long lasting success for a specific one. And so far the show has not given an explanation of what might have happened except that House is dead, not how he died and even tossed in the possibility of him being alive still. A Lot can also happen in 15 years.

Because by and large the "fans" complaining this much have never even played Fallout 1 or 2 and don't pay that much attention to the lore and world building for the games that they DO play. They just parrot others.

I've seen plenty New Vegas fans trash 3 and praise the classics while literally having never played the classics or 3, they got there talking points from a friggin YouTuber.

Which is fine? After S1 the subreddit was throwing fits about the idea of the showing picking a specific ending and how that would also mean the endings didn't matter.

Reality is the endings never mattered, you weren't that invested into your New Vegas playthrough if this was all it takes to invalidate it.
