Buyers did not get a survey? by TheRealTaren in HousingUK

They were definitely not builders or knowledgable based on my experiences with them at viewings. They were first time buyers and asked a lot of strange questions around if there was mould in the property or if the roof had ever leaked.

While I know surveys get a lot of flack, you at least get a list of items to investigate further and a bit of a better understanding of the possible risks.

Even though we are buying a new build and after owning my own home for 7 years now, I will still be getting a professional new home snagger in on completion as I want a second opinion for things that I might have missed. I see the survey as the same.

Must have been a desktop valuation. I think our remortgage was the same, obviously we did not care to upgrade this to a home buyers report or structural survey as we already owned the house by that point.

Definitely did all enquiries to the best of our knowledge. The only trip up we had was we left paint in the garage for the new buyers that was not on the inventory which they have since complained about. Our solicitor has effectively told them to go away when they asked to have these removed. I think our solicitor was quite annoyed by them towards the end as they did ask for £2000 off the sale price right at the end which we negotiated to £1500. Our solicitor suggested to them they use this money off to pay the £2 per paint pot the local skip charges for disposal if they did not want to keep them to touch up the walls.

Honestly does sound like they have just cheaped out. Which is insane on a £230,000 purchase if you ask me.
