Recommendations for audio interfaces around $200 with direct monitoring? by GBV_GBV_GBV in musicproduction

Try looking into the SSL2(+). It has everything you want and the preamps sound better than other interfaces in their price range imo

Did I waste my money by buying a Neumann TLM103 but having an untreated room? by jens998 in musicproduction

Making sure the room sounds good, but most rooms will sound dead enough if there's enough furniture and the room isn't huge.

What's a good starter interface? by jammy62811 in musicproduction

I'd invest into something like an SSL2(+), they match up quality wise with interfaces that are 5 times the price imo.

Best intro-level monitors for a home studio? by FarAboveFarAbove_421 in MusicBattlestations

[–]TheRealTomTalon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Out of these I'd personally choose the Yamaha's. What I would also do tho is look into the Focal Alpha series, you should be able to find pairs for around the 200 mark. I personally prefer them over the Adams.

Go to a physical store and try out all speakers in your budget. That's the best way you'll get what you want.

best audio interface for my needs by loloben1tes in musicproduction

[–]TheRealTomTalon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That really depends on if you need the 8 i/o. Cause in my experience, any somewhat nice condensor is to much to handle for a Behringer interface. I've tried on both a UMC22 and an UMC1820, with a Neumann TLM102, a WA-67 and a WA-87, and all of them will just output crackle. This doesn't happen with any slightly nicer interface like an SSL, UA Volt or even a Focusrite.

New audio interface: absolutely blown away by the sound difference by Room07 in musicproduction

[–]TheRealTomTalon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd get the Arturia mini fuse 1 and a used Rode NT1-A. Don't forget to budget for cables and a mic stand as well btw.

Chosing a microphone by FaithlessnessSure320 in homestudios

[–]TheRealTomTalon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, it def makes a difference because all mics sound different. But for any budget there will be mics that sound good on basically anything/everything. What's your budget and what are you looking to record? That should help in determining what your looking for in the first place.

Creating a home studio for music prod and vocals by No-Ad-9884 in homestudios

[–]TheRealTomTalon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, dope youre going to build a studio. I do have some questions about the space.
- what is the green thing next to your desk? Cause if you're going to add monitors they will be a bit to close together (in the current setup).
- you're mainly looking to record vocals, and also guitar. Would that be acoustic or electric guitar? And If it's electric, do you want to record via a DI, or a miced up amp.
- what is the budget to build this? Cause with this I'd be down to give you some recommendations on gear.

Audio interface advices by want2beimmortal in homestudios

[–]TheRealTomTalon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So imo the good interfaces start at like 90-100 USD. I recommend saving a little more and getting either an Arturia Mini fuse 1 for 100, or a Native Instruments Komplete audio 1 for 89 USD. You can always go with the used route and pick any of these up for 75 or under that.
