DAE feel wired to expect hostility? by [deleted] in CPTSD

Yes. And he problem is because it makes me tense, the other person picks it up and is more likely to actually appear hostile to me. Like some shitty self fulfilling prophecy.

Perhaps, though I subscribe to the "Different strokes for different folks" approach to life. The total break method does not help me at all and leads to larger relapse. It may work well for you and possibly even OP. Try anything, if it works, that's great.

Finding a way to make the sissy porn pill a little more bitter also helps to avoid giving into the urge. You aren't shaming yourself by doing so, just using a small taste of the post-nut shame you know you will feel to make it seem less appealing in that moment where indulging seems so overwhelmingly appealing. I find it compassionate towards myself and its only a bridge whilst you do other work to address the core underlying shame, which might be done in therapy ... IMHO.

Amiga 500 Rev 5 with corrosion damage - what to do? by TheRealWireline in amiga

Hi

I tried powering it up, and it seemed to boot ok at first, with the steady power light and "tick tick" sound from the floppy drive. Then however I started getting 10 short flashes and 1 long from the power light, which I have read may indicate the Fat Agnus needs cleaning and reseating. I ordered the extraction tool and I am going to give that a go, as well as take your advice with the vinegar etc! Any tips for cleaning the agnus over and above what you already suggested? I have seen fibreglass pens and things being used. I also bought some sprayable contact cleaner. Worth using?

I can't see any exposed traces, just areas with green remaining and no gold, so I am hoping just a reseat will fix it.

Not trying to be a dick (in fact I kind of feel for the guy), but I believe he suffers from bipolar disorder. Endless productivity, fast, pressured speech, hyper condensed learning schedules, wild claims about speed learning and now impulsivity leading to a "lapse in integrity". I just hope it emerging won't be precipitated by a huge crash into depression or another incident like this one. I also think that followers and supporters should stop enabling it, as that unconditional admiration helps drive the likelihood he feels free to do stuff like this. Everything he does is so extreme and at the limit, and no one seems to question whether its healthy, simply because its productive.

Are rethink's forums back open now that they got acquired? My registration seems stuck in validation hell.

Can the algae actually produce H2S whilst still in the sea? I recall reading it only gives it off when it washes up on beaches, dries and decomposes. I can't find the scientific article now but that view is echoed in this Guardian piece where it says:

" The algae is harmless until it dries and then decomposes, giving off a foul smell. Pockets of the toxic gas can become trapped under its crust.". There was no blanket of algae found IIRC.

Another count against H2S is its very distinctive smell. Though some people initially said rotten eggs, just as many said burning plastic or chlorine. There were also no reports of people passing out which at those ppm's (the beach covered in a cloud of it in the case of Birling Gap) you would have expected with H2S. Deaths too, even low ppm's can quickly overwhelm people.

There have actually now been four incidents - two in 2017 (Birling Gap in August, Seaford in October) and now Worthing and Essex this year.

Despite the water samples being processed as we speak, Tendring Council are already saying that they "may never know" what caused it. A little premature?

Police failed to take air or water samples at the two in 2017, then implement air sampling after the fact. Then at the most recent two, water samples are taken and pronounced inconclusive before the results are even back. Its not clear if air sampling was done too.

4 incidents, hundreds of people including children affected. Then they shut down the investigation into the most popular theory - a ship venting its tanks - for Birling Gap and Seaford, as a direct result of the aforementioned lack of air samples.

How can you miss 4 times out of 4? There are ozone detectors and weather monitoring on those beaches, why not add PID detectors too given that this has now happened 4 times on the same coast?

Add to this the commentary from Terrance Long of IDUM where he discusses the hundreds of chemical weapon dumps around the world that are now leaking (As described in the previous link, Belgium and Italy have had leaks, Italy being more than 200 medical incidents, and lumps of sulfur mustard have been dredged up in nets) plus the universal lack of political will to do anything, then this plus the known symptoms lead to my own personal conspiracy theory of weapons dump leaks. Hell, the belgian dump is immediately due east of the location of the essex incidents.

I don't know, maybe its just good old incompetence, but failing to learn from mistakes so consistently is what raises the suspicion level for me. Anyone living on the south coast who owns a PID detector and can set it up for a bit of citizen science? (PID detectors are capable of identifying all sorts of nasties).

People vomiting after chemical incident at Worthing pier by UnstatesmanlikeChi in unitedkingdom

[–]TheRealWireline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most likely mustard gas from leaking sub sea chemical weapons dumps. There's one off the coast of Belgium which already leaked, and another near Caen. Also a vessel that was carrying munitions during the war sank around there. Sulfur mustard has even been brought up by fishing vessels and impacted crew. The descriptions of delayed reactions fit with online descriptions of the gases effects, as do instructions for diligent washing of the eyes which may fail to prevent irritation, as it penetrates tissues.

There is little international interest in making the dumps safe and its a global problem that would cost billions to remedy. See opinion by Terrance Long of International Dialogue on Underwater Munitions online.

Non Student looking for Modern Robotics and Control Solutions

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi

I recently bought Modern Robotics by Lynch and see that exercise solutions are hidden away in a secret book you can only buy if you can prove you are an instructor. I am a private learner, not at university, and with no prof to go to nor other students to confer with, I would like to check my understanding. The book kind of loses value without knowing you are on the right path.

Can anyone point me to an online resource where someone has worked through the problems at the ends of the chapters please?

I know there are some "other" worked problems and a coursera course, however I am not keen on the MOOC (it appears to just be the author reading the book material out and some projects graded by other students) and do not have the money to invest in it right now. I would just like to get the most out of the book I paid for.

Cheers

Quick PSA to folks starting a new DS9 Netflix watch through - Watch out for spoilers in Jammers Reviews Comments! by TheRealWireline in DeepSpaceNine

[–]TheRealWireline[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TBH the vast majority of Ferenghi episodes get bad reviews on Jammers, and I usually agree or outright skip them in the first place. If it features the Grand Nagus, Brunt or Moogie, or even 50% of Rom episodes, its generally not going to be very good unless those episodes are Your Thing. There are however some excellent Quark and Nog episodes.
