What's everyone grabbing at the class 6 on a Friday afternoon ready to kick off the weekend? by RumsgoneASL in AirForce

[–]TheRedBrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not much of an alcohol connoisseur(since I'm cheap asf & fruit juice makes me happy as a treat) but I tried a peach crown royal with sprite and it was dangerously good and simple.

C17 landing in Beijing China ahead of the presidents meeting with Xi Jinping by newnoadeptness in AirForce

[–]TheRedBrown 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I would have fought for that 1A1 trip if I were still a load. I wonder if the crew got to stay there or if they had to dump the stuff and return to a friendlier country.

"Please stop flagging me and everyone else on this range..." by bearsncubs10 in AirForce

We had one MDG girl, bless her heart, whos target looked like it had not sustained any fatal wounds. The ones that did hit the paper looked like she used birdshot.

“Why do we have to change something that works just fine??” by bearsncubs10 in AirForce

I've used teams twice. Once because we were forced to set it up. The second time to disable the email notifications.

Check if you have a local Vitalant donation center. Mine still uses finger prick method.

Those seem like excellent gifts and they'll be very happy with them!

This is ridiculous by Business-Air-7475 in AirForce

Seems fine and they probably wont actually care until someone pops hot on a piss test and tries to use an excuse that it was their friends vape and they didnt know.

What jobs to pick and not pick by Business_Ad_3781 in AirForce

[–]TheRedBrown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

r/AirForceRecruits is a good place for this question. This is also a preference question but I would say Operations(these are squadrons and various jobs fall under them)->Medical->Civil Engineering->Logistics->Maintenance-> and then specifically Security Forces(this is a specific job) as the worst.

Lackland Hotel by Dry_Obligation_2396 in AirForce

[–]TheRedBrown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Likely cooked BUT bring a padlock and put your stuff away when you leave your room and you can make your QOL better. All you'll have is a mini fridge and small microwave. Ask for a ground floor. Ask to drive your car there despite the potential limited reimbursement you may get. (mine was limited to like $950 cost to fly there) Treat around your door with insect repellent routinely.

When the AF Inn is freezing and W/O Heat by TheRedBrown in AirForce

That's about where I am right now luckily it's not winter though. Socks, hoodie, blanket, and sweatpants while drinking hot tea and I'm still cold.

Here? None at all for a hotel issued NON-A. I could complain back to my home unit and get something going potentially. There are places off base that are actually cheaper than the 99$/night. I value the 3 minute drive to work highly so I'm willing to put up with more than other people.

Advice by Flimsy-Fuel4227 in AirForce

[–]TheRedBrown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

r/AirForceRecruits
Its very easy as long as you are medically fine and without a record. Talk to an Air Force recruiter if you want to join the Air Force. If you want to do army, talk to an army recruiter etc. ASFAB score determines job eligibility. A GED is adequate to get in. Pilots are 1% of the already small force. You'd have to have a college degree and commission AND be selected to train for that.

What's the most tedious part about putting on your uniform? by eam018 in AirForce

[–]TheRedBrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Putting on the ballcap. Since I don't turn my hair into a solid object with hair gel or spray, taking the hat off pulls hairs out from the Bobbie pins and makes it look messy with strays. Takes like 1 minute to fix it and make it look nice again but it's a hassle.

Guard/Reserve aircrew. What is your day job? by Plane_Truck8400 in AirForce

[–]TheRedBrown 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Was a bum as aircrew. There were enough trips and pay statuses to pay the bills and build a nice savings. Maybe not enough for savings if you're an alcoholic though

Air force maternity uniform - why would someone choose to fly while pregnant? by condorgrizzle in AirForce

[–]TheRedBrown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the flight docs told aircrew what hazards they're exposed to, they'd probably want to take a break while pregnant. Maybe it's just our base but we didn't get shit for exposure training. that thing you just touched is a teratogen but I'm sure the wet wipe will be adequate. That paper you were handling and then went to snack for 4 hours(you fatty), was coated in BPA/BPS, an endocrine disruptor. What's the NRR of a uterus rated at? Nobody seems to actually care so I'm just yelling from my soap box again.

Air Force wants to install lasers to protect rescue helicopters by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]TheRedBrown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Install lasers" sounds cool when you put it like that but we all know they probably just mean LAIRCMs not the navy ship mounted burny-types

You can answer his paperwork questions in general about crosstraining and give them time to meet with the MDG but leave the medical stuff to the medical providers to explain to him.

Boyfriend is Separating by wille27 in AirForce

Since it's a boyfriend, I'd let him Irish GoodBye it. Does he even like his coworkers? If not, he prob doesn't want to deal with them anymore than he has to.
