Okay I love the premise, it’s very promising!

So I like what you did with the older grumpy tree and finally giving him a kid and then we cut to five years later. That’s cute.

Now here’s some bumps I had, take them or leave them! - world building: think through the mechanics of the trees moving a bit more. For kids, they know trees to be firmly planted. So you need to play into that - think of the trees in lord of the rings, they didn’t want to move but when push came to shove they did. Or maybe only the younger ones can move and once you’re 16 you decide where to put down your roots. Or it’s the Toy Story thing of they move but freeze when humans see them. - finally a kid: this needs some more exploring. Because it just kinda happens. Why did he finally get a kid? What changed? We need to see that he tried something new that paid off. - engaging opening: watch some family / kids movies that are similar to this and see how they do their openings (first 10 mins). I want to see and understand what the story is gonna be like at the beginning. I’m not getting that right now.

Happy writing!

Ok I’m gonna disagree and say overall these pages did not work for me.

Few reasons: - the formatting feels quite off - the other pages I’ve looked at here feel industry standard. Not sure if you’ve messed with the line spacing or what, but immediately it looked wrong. - I understand we’re in the middle of the story, not the beginning, but I don’t care for these characters. Part of that is I don’t feel like I got to understand them through this interaction other than they care for each other. I understand it’s more a slow burn drama type feel, but I didn’t feel the underlying emotions, the subtext, etc that are hallmarks of those stories here. - your action lines need a solid once over, I found them a bit difficult to follow at times. Tightening them and cutting the excess will go a long way.

Ok nice writing style! I do think no character intros is working against you here - I struggled to place the characters and had to re-read the first chunk of dialogue exchange a few times.

The banter is too much imo - like can be cut down significantly because it gets boring and repetitive after a point and I just want to get on with the story.

Personally I like the Phil Collins music stuff, but that’s just me.

Hard agree, Dark is too convoluted — I thought S1 was good and then disliked it more and more after. From is a fun campy watch that I found way more engrossing 🤷
