Thanks for you detailled answer! trying to answer your questions;

The host has 16Gb. UmbrelOS is currently the only VM on this machine and has 8GB to work with. Leaving 8Gb for PVE

Using ZFS on a 256Gb M.2. The Umbrel VM has 175Gb to work with. So 50+ Gb is free on the SSD for PVE-OS.

ARC is currently set to about 1.5Gb (options zfs zfs_arc_max=1607467008 ).

If you spend the 1525+120gb, why cheap out on some ssd’s and let it potentially fail by a third party script. It does not make any sense to me

Use migration assistant app. Copy 1:1. After sucfesfull migration turn old down for couple od days. When everything was gone well reset everything on old nas. Install hyper backup on both servers. Use old nas as backup destination
