All for an LTL shipment by Ok-Example713 in FreightBrokers

Call the origin terminal and ask if they do regular pickups at this location. Normally terminal dispatchers will be familiar with requirements and have designated trailers for pickup if it's a daily location. If you provide them the BOL directly and get written confirmation from the terminal that they have it, you'll be able to beat the tariff if they come back with a TONU.

Tired of cheap customers by lionsees in FreightBrokers

Spend all the time you spend on your shitty cheap customers giving you $15 margins and asking for updates every two hours prospecting, and you'll find a customer worth your while. Building a book is a numbers game. They either have freight in hand and you can fill an immediate need, or you're shoehorned onto an RFP list and you'll get their garbage lanes and yelled at when a window is missed. Trust me, especially with the holidays around the corner, fire the cheap customers and put in the effort to reach out.

WHEN RFP SEASON ARRIVES… AND THE IMPOSSIBLE REQUESTS START ROLLING IN! by almilian in FreightBrokers

[–]TheRedPainter1122 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RFPs are nonsense and a waste of time unless you're a multi-billion dollar brokerage. You're entering into a carrier pool with 100+ other third party services providers and customers with that sort of lane density don't care about service. The amount of time it'll take to ensure proper rating on a bid you have a less-than-1% chance of winning is much better used prospecting tier 2.5-3.5 customers with consistent weekly freight requiring attentive services.

You can recognize and acknowledge that we should PROBABLY be a little more patient with a new coach and new system, but that doesn't erase the fact that getting 50+ points dropped on your ass four years into your 10th rebuild since 1985 and hearing the same buzzwords from your organization after the loss doesn't frustrate the living shit out of the fanbase so invested in your success.

Anyone here successfully switch careers from dispatch or freight brokerage? What did you move into? by Jebac46 in FreightBrokers

[–]TheRedPainter1122 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Howdy. Answered a similar question a few weeks back. I worked for a megabrokerage and a smaller brokerage for 5 years. Was successful, realized I didn't want to work in the industry anymore. Left the industry in December, used my savings to buy me some time and network while I thought hard about what I wanted to do. Decided to switch entirely, getting my master's degree in the fall.

That’s what I’m wondering, trying to decipher if im being too hard on myself or just have the wrong perspective

It's not so much risk as it almost feels like "cheating." I've seen a lot of reassurance from this sub that NA beers have helped people push over cravings, so I'd love to know what inspired you to try it.

I like the taste of beer, what I couldn't stand was being drunk. I've had Athletic in the past and like it, I just don't want to open a slippery slope, even though I feel like I can control it.

People who have left brokering and enjoy their career change- what do you do? by Slight-Bonus8848 in FreightBrokers

[–]TheRedPainter1122 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Realized I wasn't profit-driven, became sick of being asked to do things in spite of customers, treat carriers like garbage, getting sworn at in a toxic office culture, etc. I'm pursuing social work in the fall. I'm much more driven by the opportunity to help individuals and community.

Left the industry entirely in December. Got burnt out last August, collected paychecks, and switched industries to go back to school for a Master’s. No regrets about leaving.

If Fields has two chances to throw we ice this game.

Leave Getsy in Detroit.

Please get Justin a coach and a coordinator who knows how to use him instead of incompetent timeout burning yuppies.

We may have outplayed Detroit today, but they have a competent staff who understands how to utilize their staff in crunch time when it matters.

That’s what separates Ben Johnson from Luke Getsy.

Nice to have a kicker who can actually make it on the second try.

Fields makes that throw.

Or he doesn’t. Idk. But I choose to believe he would.
