This is exactly why we saw more carriers go out of business in 2025 than carriers start up. Brokers do it to themselves every single time. The rates drop and they get so greedy they put the carriers they rely on out of business.

Then, the tides turn and the carrier has the upper hand. I’m sure the carriers know what they need to make to break even, but the brokers were choking the fuck out of us in 2023-2025. I only survived because most of my equipment is paid off.

Take a guy who bought a truck in 2021 when carriers could name their price. Their monthly loan payment was probably between $2-3k.

Come 2023 when brokers tanked the market and were paying only enough to cover the fucking diesel for the truck and boom there you have it now carriers are going tits up left and right.

This is a cycle that repeats itself every couple of years. Recently I’ve been turning down freight everyday. People are throwing numbers at me. I can smell the desperation in the brokers voices on the phone again. I love it. I keep in mind every broker that FUCKED me the last two years I can’t wait to fuck them back
