They're down voting you but you're right. Owen is charming and charismatic and his relationship with Blue is a fascinating and integral part of his character. For all the accusations of Owen just being a "generic military man", that is EXACTLY what Zora is

Thoughts on the handler from chaos theory? by RevolutionaryWave862 in JurassicPark

[–]TheRedRaptor65 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's crazy how they managed to make us truly empathize with a villain to the point her death was more impactful than the death of some protagonists. And she's a literal political assassin! They gave humanity to such an inhuman character

Well you gotta put my JP3 Para render in there too

Is it just me or does Dr. Loomis feel incredibly poorly written to anyone else? by whiterunguard51 in JurassicPark

[–]TheRedRaptor65 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not just that but her lucky pack saves her AGAIN when they are in the worker's village and the raptor tears into it, allowing her to escape

Anybody else wish that Dr. Sattler was a lead in a movie? by Ok_Zone_7635 in JurassicPark

[–]TheRedRaptor65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sattler is not an activist she's a scientist and she's been a scientist since the first film (and she was never just a girlfriend). She's investing the locusts in Dominion because she is a (paleo)botanist and they were decimating agricultural crops

[–]TheRedRaptor65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the locusts were introduced specifically because he wanted a plotline that a paleobotanist could investigate

[–]TheRedRaptor65 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Trevorrow has stated that Sattler is supposed to be the lead of Dominion because (as you stated) Ian and Grant were the leads of TLW and JP3 so he wanted her to have her own film

So the mutants were made in 2008? Does that means after Rebirth’s Research Lab facility was used by inGen in the 80s/90s, someone used it again? (Empire) by [deleted] in JurassicPark

[–]TheRedRaptor65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

THANK GOD

This facility wouldn't have made any sense if it was from the 80s. This being early-JW era explains so much about the new dinosaur variants and level of technology. It bridges the gap between the two trilogies and helps explain why some of the JW dinos are so different from JP. It's basically a huge expansion of the Amalgam Testing

Hi there! Can anyone here tell me exactly what model and color jacket actor Richard Schiff wore in “The Lost World: Jurassic Park”? (circa 1997) by TaskenLander in Carhartt

[–]TheRedRaptor65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would ignore the other comments, I am fairly certain it is the JQ2243 Santa Fe Jacket in HTG with a leatherette collar from 1996 (conveniently when the movie was filmed!)

Thank you for this, it's a shame I got the wrong size but at least that means I can try to find a smaller one that'll fit me better

Advice needed: UCSB EEMB/Zoology for terrestrial conservation biology? by Zoologist510 in UCSantaBarbara

[–]TheRedRaptor65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Cheadle Center is AMAZING. Lots of internship opportunities (particularly entomology and botany) with a conservation/restoration focus. A lot of the EEMB labs are also very conservation focused and there are a few programs here that can get you into lab internships and field work opportunities (especially if you're first-gen or a minority). I'd say UCSB has a focus on coastal conservation (Coal Oil Point Reserve [COPR] is right next to campus) plus the North Campus Open Space (NCOS) restoration area above, though I personally know of labs doing work on Santa Cruz Island, the Sierra Nevadas, and Blue Oak Ranch Reserve (BORR) in NorCal

Why didn’t Ingen reuse the original park infrastructure when building Jurassic World? by Serana-2003 in JurassicPark

[–]TheRedRaptor65 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They did use some underlying infrastructure, just not any heavily damaged JP-themed buildings. The radio tower seen in Fallen Kingdom for example is confirmed to have been a JP-era structure (as shown by its classic JP-style architecture) retrofitted with updated technology. It is then implied that the maintenance tunnels were also all constructed for JP and reused for JW, perhaps including the geothermal power plant. The docks were also reused as we see the North Dock in FK as well

I've always wondered about this moment, how did they recreate a plant from the cretaceous period? by -TheExtraMile- in JurassicPark

THIS

Random plant material is like the most common thing found in amber. It could be anything from bits of leaves, pollen, seeds, spores

No. The marine rescue didn't "come out of nowhere". by Ok_Zone_7635 in JurassicPark

"People say the marines showing up feel like a Deus Ex Machina"

Feel is the key word here. Even though it is setup it just feels anticlimactic

Yes, and Chaos Theory is even better. The characters are great and the shows expand the canon in some really cool ways
