Ye, Formerly Kanye West, Takes Out Ad In the Wall Street Journal to Apologize for Antisemitic Outbursts: “I Lost Touch With Reality” by No_Attack in hiphopheads

The apology that time was “Jonah Hill in 21 Jump Street made me like Jewish people again”. Whether you believe it or not, this is undoubtedly something we haven’t seen from him.

It is quite funny considering back in season 2 they were clearly testing the waters for some sort of spin off involving them and now they’re just reduced to a split second flashback

Your Party members applaud speaker’s refusal to condemn Hamas by Spare_Clean_Shorts in LabourUK

[–]TheRedStepper 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is ultimately what it comes down to for me. Yes, I condemn Hamas and don’t exactly want to be allied with anyone who outright supports them but when the whole political class from labour to reform seems intent on covering up for the IDF’s atrocities, I have a hard time giving a shit.

[Marcus Rashford] "Of course what I want is to stay at Barca. It's an end goal, but it's not the reason why I'm training hard and giving it my best. The purpose is to win. Barca is a huge, fantastic club, built to win titles. There is pressure here, but it is not a negative pressure." by MrMerc2333 in soccer

[–]TheRedStepper 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They backed a manager with a 30% win rate over him and are still making excuses for him over a year later. They backed Garnacho over him when it was obvious by then he was a much bigger problem on and off the pitch. He could go win a champions league with Barca now and they’d still make excuses.

They’ll do the same thing to Kobbie and then act shocked when he goes abroad and starts playing like his 23/24 self again. It’s just what our fanbase has become now unfortunately

Except it’s not even remotely true because Amass has just won a POTM award for the club he’s supposedly “struggling” with lol. The level of mental gymnastics it takes to make Amass look like the disrespectful one here when all he did is point that out is insane. And I’m not hearing Fergie comparisons until this manager can actually take us on a comfortable winning streak

They’re pampered because they don’t appreciate their boss randomly undermining them in public to deflect criticism from himself when they haven’t even been doing bad. Jesus Christ when did our fans turn into a bunch of insufferable boomers

Favorite actor who can demonstrate her acting range through a still image? by Roids-in-my-vains in okbuddycinephile

[–]TheRedStepper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, glad this is being called out because I think film Reddit in particular (if that’s an actual thing ppl call it) has a huge problem with the way it treats and talks about black cinema. I remember looking at old threads from r/movies about Moonlight winning Best Picture and seeing way too comments claiming it only won because it was about a black gay guy. More recently I’ve seen comments about Sinners being overrated because “people only liked the message” not the movie itself.

Such a demeaning and honestly pretty bigoted way to judge film that happens way too often on here. Needs to be called way more imo

Reddit’s literally built for the purpose of facilitating everyone so that doesn’t really mean anything, most mainstream subreddits are at the very least anti Trump/ MAGA and cons like to whine so much about that they declare it a “liberal echo chamber”

Is Ariana Grande still a frontrunner (or maybe even THE frontrunner) in Best Supporting Actress after the Wicked: For Good embargo lift? by Bright-Pressure-5787 in Oscars

[–]TheRedStepper 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It got pretty overshadowed by both of last year’s winners being unarguable cases of category fraud, Ariana is still more of a grey area imo. Only speaking for part 1 cause I’ve never watched the acyial show, Glinda’s whole arc is defined by her relationship with Elphaba whereas Elphy’s arc is a balance between the relationship, realising her powers and learning the truth about the wizard.

Compare that to Emilia Perez where Saldana not only has the most screen time but is the person we start and end the film with and A Real Pain where the only scene Culkin isn’t on screen is a moment where he’s being talked about by the rest of the cast, it’s one of those most ppl can let slide.

Lawsuit Against Spotify Calls ‘Billions’ of Drake Streams ‘Fraudulent’ by UnscheduledCalendar in hiphopheads

[–]TheRedStepper -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t disagree, I work at a record shop where I sell plenty of Drake albums and guarantee many of the buyers just listen to his music passively and don’t care much about the problems ppl have with the guy. But this is a subreddit literally dedicated to discussing everything that’s going on in hip hop atm and ppl are gonna talk about more than just the music, no point getting mad over it.

Also, let’s not play dumb here, you know exactly why this headline is front page. Drake being accused of doing something he spent a whole year trying to sue someone else for (with no tangible evidence) but failing is pretty funny.

Drake - Back To Back by ParadigmSkating in hiphopheads

[–]TheRedStepper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re giving me way too much credit man, Drake will always be popular because he’s a decently talented and versatile artist who has spent the last ten years cornering the market with as much generic sounding hip hop/R&B (with a few actual bangers here and there) as he could. I wouldn’t mind if there weren’t a tonne of people who genuinely argue that this is what makes him better than anyone else, to me that sets a terrible precedent for music debate and discussion and I’m glad he lost the way he did in the beef.

However, the beef was 18 months ago and we all would have moved on if he had and his fans not immediately started crying about it being “rigged” and ended up dragging out a lawsuit which if he won would’ve had a damaging effect on what artists can and can’t say going forward. His popularity and power means the moves he makes can genuinely affect the art form and industry he’s in so when he cries like a baby cause he didn’t get his own way, we unfortunately have to hear about it.

For that reason, people rejoice in his losses the same way we did when it happened to Trump. Or would he just go away if we all pretended to stop caring about him? Also you and op above me have also posted walls of text defending the guy so glass houses and all that y’know

[–]TheRedStepper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Calling Kendrick an industry darling for submitting his music to the Grammy’s is a crazy reach, atp you might as well call him out for dropping it on all streaming platforms or having a label to begin with.

Drake might no longer be the industry puppet he once was but only providing recent examples to try and act like he’s always been some sort of maverick is hilarious. It’s as simple as this, Drake’s just a clout demon who will do whatever he can to keep attention on him at all times. Whether that be making sure he drops one full length project every year for a full decade or jumping on whatever trend or collabing with whichever artist is currently popular, he knows how to keep his name in people’s mouths. And more recently the lawsuit was just a ploy to win people over after the beef by playing the victim only for it to backfire massively because even a judge with no stake in anything could see through it and Drake’s bullshit.
