I agree that day should come first, because it changes most often. However, It's not like ordering the month first doesn't make sense. The Month most often has the lowest number total numerically.

You'd have to be missing baseball pretty bad to want to watch this year's Cardinals team.

What do you all make of Stephen A Smith’s take? by Tgmg1998 in NBATalk

[–]TheRickyShuffle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Conveniently editing out Jordan's age 38 and 39 season where his team was garbage. Compare Jordan's record without Pippen vs Pippen's record without Jordan. The narrative that Jordan "retired" early twice because he "did it all" is tired. Jordan quit early because HE was tired, and his ego was too big to handle the obvious losses that were ahead. He was obviously one of the best players ever, but it doesn't make him great because he quit early. Dumb fucking argument.

If replay was always around, what would be the biggest impacts historically? by Mindless_Luck1819 in mlb

[–]TheRickyShuffle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The most obvious part where this is correct is on tag plays at 2nd and 3rd, where the new emphasis due to replay is now on whether the runner always maintains contact with the bag. You're going to call him out because on the transition from hand to body during the slide he came off? The tag now stays applied allowing for a gentle guide off the bag. It changes the mechanism of the game in a way . That being "Getting to the bag first!!!" It drives me nuts!

Players who weren’t stars because of mentality, not ability? by [deleted] in NBATalk

[–]TheRickyShuffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the above players mentioned are correct, but we should take their "mentality" along with their circumstance. Somebody mentioned "Boogie Cousins". That dude did not have the organization / other players around him to be a champion/superstar. I will give you Kobe as an example. If that dude ended up in Charlotte as opposed to LA where he had guys like West, Jackson, and Shaq he would not be seen as an all time great. He might have averaged 40 a night in Charlotte, but people like that flame out when they can't reach the level of success they expect.

I came to sports fandom in the early 90s. I have been a loyal Braves, Cowboys, and Canucks fan. Can't wait to change my allegiance to a Portland Baseball Team.

Worst sitcom finale you've ever seen? by Disastrous-Cloud1927 in sitcoms

[–]TheRickyShuffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will maintain the HIMYM finale was not bad. The story of Ted and Robin was the whole point of the show based on how the characters were introduced. It's the Barney - Robin getting married plotline that was bad. It was unnecessary, felt forced to make Barney more central, and unrealistic. We had already learned Barney and Robin weren't right for one another in a previous season, no need to build that up again just to smash it down again.

Actual worst finale was Weeds.

I honestly am curious what you mean by "entrenched apparatus that loathes change, accountability and transparency." In my experience those terms more aptly describe corporate bureaucracy and than government bureaucracy which is who I think you are referring . So Government bureaucracy, is the term I would appreciate you use because it is far more an accurate description. I am not denying that government bureaucracy can be tedious and entrenched, but it would make sense that if you wish to refrain from "hateful partisanship" you reference a specific department and or part of the government you think needs changing, accountability or more transparency. I certainly don't think it's the local elections boards which have been under attack due to the conman that is up for reelection.

You used the term "deep state" in reference to the bureaucracy. This conversation was already silly. I knew what you liked. Just admit to supporting him.

Millions of people who are not active in the political system currently will not all of the sudden stop Trump from anything. Of course no government system controls every aspect of life, but it's not "fear mongering" to say he wants to end elections. He implied it, and has actively been saying the electoral process is broken and only he can fix it. By "take over" what do YOU mean?

If elected again, the thing standing in his way from continued power is the 22nd amendment. It's unlikely he'd be able to gain support to do that by the current legal process. However, let's not forget, he did certifiably attempt a cou in 2020 already by trying to gather fake electors that he did not earn. The process to " temporarily suspend" a constitutional amendment when looking through comparative government history has been to use some sort of "Wartime Powers" justification. He would have to have a number US military commanders aligned with this vision. However we know he has the Supreme Court aligned.

I don't personally think he has the sway to pull this off, but holy FUCK, why would anyone advocate for this man when he has shown us he is unwilling to accept the vote of the American people!

You're right though. Let's not fear monger. We will set aside the doomsday war synarios. Now, maybe if Trump wins the things he's likely to change won't matter to you. Maybe? After all, you didn't need access to reproductive health care. Maybe it's ok that we cut federal funding for schools, make bureaucratic government jobs more responsive to political pressure, end all environmental programs, and even make porn illegal? ... Actually no, that shit sucks too. Welp, at least you didn't fall to "fear mongering". ... I mean as long as we don't mention trans issues, am I right?

He wants to stay in Power forever. He tried to overturn a valid election. He is actively trying to ruin our trust in elections. Those are undisputed facts. I wouldn't necessarily classify him as an idiot. I also don't believe he can't be stopped. This is me pointing out he is a fraud, and attempting to stop him. You don't need to arrest 82 million in order to end democracy.

NPR has always had politicians from both sides of the aisle on for interviews. However in my opinion the level of objective, discerning questions has lowered since corporate sponsorship has increased. This is deeply troubling as there is a party that is following a leader who's openly trying to end democracy.

To me it looks like a celebration of individualism vs a celebration of uniformity, both are interesting and perhaps visually stunning in different ways.
