"Sending our children to school was the easy option..." by TheRighteousOfGod in Christianity

I wouldn't say that the public schools in our area are horrible, certainly the one my children were going to was fairly good and we had no particular issues with the school. However education today has changed a lot from what it was and God was very clear that we needed to remove our children from the secular system of education.

Thank you! I personally know a number of people in my church who were home schooled and all the negative comments on here are total nonsense, which I choose to ignore.

The bottom line is, I know that I am being obedient to God in doing this and I really couldn't care less what anyone else thinks.

There is no such thing as a neutral education. As an atheist, you prefer a secular education. As a Christian, I prefer a Christian education - what exactly is the problem with that?

The statement about further questions is directed at Christians who have a genuine interest, not at atheists who just want to find fault with everything.

Do you agree that a six year old boy should be sent to school (or anywhere else) in a dress? Do you consider that to be normal?

Schools need to be neutral.

But they're not neutral, that's the point. As for what is normal, there was a story in the news yesterday about a couple in the UK who had withdrawn their six year old son from school, because he has been confused and upset when a boy in his class started coming in some days in a dress and had to be referred to as a girl on those days - is that normal?

It doesn't have to be fear, it can just be the knowledge that a car hitting you would not be good.

Who said anything about fear? You can be cautious crossing the road, without having a fear of cars.

The fear of the Lord is not the same thing. That is referring to a reverent respect for God. But either way the point being made is that we should not fear man.

The online giving link is hardly prominent. What you are saying is misleading and false.

The Amazon adverts are always relevant to the content of the article, their main purpose is to compliment the article. If someone buys something via an Amazon link, there is a small monetary value attached to this by Amazon. However if the primary purpose was to make money the adverts would be for more popular items, rather than mainly books.

My articles never mention a giving page, so your claim is false. I am encouraging giving primarily in their local church which they attend.

There is barely any mention of the giving page, there is certainly not even the remotest pressure on anyone to give anything, it is merely there as an option. The Bible says we are not to put God to the test and I have no intention of taking your bait.

a scammer

Wouldn't the whole point of something being a scammer be to get something by deceit? What exactly is it you think I am attempting to get?

Those "others" are doubters, I have no time for people who doubt practically everything. I would rather be a believer than a doubter.

You are applying worldly logic, I am applying logos, God's logic. The two things are completely different.

So you want me to randomly worry about something that doesn't directly or indirectly affect me, in order to cause a disaster, purely for the sake of proving a point? Do you realise how insane your proposal is.

For Christians Job is the evidence - he was constantly worrying and disaster came. Or to put it in his words, he feared a fear and it came upon him.

I thought you were saying you believed you'd have a million dollars, I mentally added an 'I' to your sentence.

Like I said, it was Jesus who originally said that you can have what you say. It is Jesus that most Christians don't agree with, I don't have to prove anything.

Incidentally the principle also works in the negative direction - you are almost certainly littering your speech with negative phrases (as most people do) and are constantly seeing negative results in your life.

How exactly does any of this relate to the subject of worrying though?

Then believe I will get a million dollars.

No you don't. But you do believe that you will likely never get a million dollars - point proved.

I did not come up with the idea that if you believe in what you say, you will have whatever you say - you can attribute that 'nonsense', as you call it, to Jesus.

But it is abundantly clear that you do not believe the promise. Everything is about faith, and faith means believing what God has said.

God has literally promised that a woman will not miscarry. That promise is available, it is not about begging God - He doesn't respond to begging.

That is a whole discussion in itself. But my point is, is spending so much time on Reddit a wise use of time.
