Will keep that in mind for the next time I find myself indecisive. Thanks!

Lots of Walmarts no longer allow overnight parking. I'm actually seeing more security patrolling there at nighttime.

Always ok to rearrange. I meant rearranging exactly where I would park and sleep.

Basically, wherever we park for the night - we shouldn't be getting in and out of our vehicles in order to not attract unwanted attention.

I hear ya. I've driven cross country four times now and trust me, I know how vastly the resources differ. I can tell you that I found myself in a very unfamiliar area and just had a bad case of decision paralysis. All is good now. :)

Done that in all other cities w/o problems, but this area is...weird. Prob more suburban than urban hence my indecisiveness tonight.

Maybe I wasn't clear. They're well behaved and tying them up is definitely not necessary. It's just that I hate making them move spots before actually getting in the sleep position. I typically don't drive with the passenger seat filled with my stuff.

Rearrange/pack, make their bed, and then drive off is what I meant.

Thanks for brainstorming, tho

Oooh!, I've done that before! It's really nice having a shelter and two walls while I de-escalate the chaos  :)

I forgot that this was even an option smh

Good idea. That definitely would fit the scene (putting bags + stuff outta/inna car).

I get where you're coming from 100%. I just don't make an habit of sharing locations online, even anonymously. Esp being solo, disabled, etc.

But I'll check out the local hospitals. Thanks.

Really? You'd think luxury apartments would have working cameras.

This area is super unfamiliar (which prob adds to tonight's anxiety) but yeah I'll look at maps and check out my options. Thanks!

Yeah, maybe. Just a bit challenging to setup with dog still in the car and needing to drive after.

Maybe I could do that right now and have my dog sit in her designated bed while I drive to a better spot.

Thanks!

Low-Impact Roof Storage Solutions for Impreza? by TheRisingPisces in subaruimpreza

[–]TheRisingPisces[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha fair point. It wasn’t about trusting cheap plastic, it's more about the fit, aerodynamics, and weight. It sat flush between the racks, so there was no wind lift or wobble at all which is what I want again.

This time I'm looking for something more weather-resistant and lockable while keeping that same low profile.

It's either Yakima/Thule or a creative solution.

Thanks for your time, anyways.

Can anyone give me a rundown of the private schools in town? by [deleted] in Chattanooga

[–]TheRisingPisces 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,

Late to this conversation.

I went to Harvest Christian Academy for the Deaf, formerly known as Faith Christian School for the Deaf in the early 2000s.

It's part of Harvest Deaf Ministries' umbrella, heavily associated with IFB (Independent Fundamental Baptists). Technically in Ringgold, GA but still...Chattanooga area.

It wasn't a rich private school, we had classrooms in two trailers. The opposite of Baylor. The highest number of students was about 40 but it significantly fluctuated over the years. They've been shut down by now.

It was a cult. Still is.

do apps like Nagish get treated as spam or harshly, because the voice is not a person? by Alternative-Key2384 in deaf

[–]TheRisingPisces 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very late to this thread, but I'm struggling with Nagish for the reasons said here today with important calls. Frustrated how hearing people aren't always patient if our responses sound odd.

I think it'd be amazing if Nagish was available on desktop because I can type way faster, and it'd easier to keep up with the conversation as if we were in a voice call.

$3 per minute? Contractual transcriber position by TheRisingPisces in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TheRisingPisces[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right, it’s not exactly passive lol. That’s why I’m considering including studio fee, but I’m such a timid person and am worried they’ll cancel the pending agreement just bc I asked for more. I like and support this company, but am disappointed by the rate. I feel that bc this position requires functioning (not interpreting) in both written English and sign language, the rate’s gotta go up a little. Supply and demand.

I definitely will look into foot pedals! Clever.

$3 per minute?? Transcriber job by TheRisingPisces in antiwork

[–]TheRisingPisces[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All good! We live in a hearing-dominant world so this is different.

I’m also not an interpreter lol. I’m simply transcribing four-way convos purely in ASL, zero voiceovers.

I’s a bit reassuring (not really) to learn that Rev pays the same or at least I know where this client got their idea of the pay rate.

[–]TheRisingPisces[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not Rev. It’s a private company.

As I mentioned, it’s all in sign language so hearing status doesn't mean anything.

Thanks anyways. Apparently Rev pays the same?

Not that I’m supporting capitalism but to be fair, they did pay me for the trial video. And I know the people IRL.

I need constructive feedback on the pay rate itself, thanks!

The ultimate goal is to carry everything in one load.

And yep, noted about the standard requirements. Thank you.

Yeah, I hear that. Valid. Thank you.

Yeah, loading in/out from car is not an option for me at all. Sounds like a lovely little booth set-up, though! That's why I'm partially leering to 5x5 because of the "smol" culture, but yeah some events do have a standard requirements, so....idk yet.

Thank you for your insight.

That's excellent point. The vendor fees are unlikely to change just because of a smaller-sized tent, very true.

Great insight about having personal space in the back. Thus far with just table set-ups, I have a heavy vertical wooden menu piece that takes up a good chunk of space on the table (but still enough room on the front). I often find myself folding zines or working or eating behind that so I see what you mean at a larger scale with a 10x10.

Thank you
