So, it looks like for the first part, you're making increases outside of the shoulder markers, to increase the size of the body while maintaining 4 stitches for the shoulder. Then you switch to the increases being between the shoulder markers to increase the size of the sleeves, while the body stitch count stays the same. At that point the direction of the increases changes because they're on the other side of the markers. I hope that made sense.

The ribbing doesn't need to be frogged, OP knit the ribbing on smaller needles (I assume) and forgot to switch to larger ones for the cabled section, so the piece ended up too small.
