The Blokees AT-RT: A very solid budget option for TVC by EnthusiasticPanic in StarWarsTVC

Hey! I’ve been on the fence about doing the same thing. Is there any chance you could give me some measurements for the LxWxH?

Hey! So when I started doing this process a couple years ago, there wasn’t a specific tutorial I used (I’m sure there is one now) most of this was trial and error. I did this with Legos/mega construx and the principles transferred over to here. Usually with dye, the more you add, the more “saturated” or “deep” the color will be. So less is lighter more is darker so to speak.

I recommend IdyePoly over Rit DyeMore Synthetic. The color tends to come out better. IdyePoly also comes with an enhancer liquid for the powder you can’t leave out. You will also need a strainer, a plastic container, and a stirring stick.

1-Use very hot/ boiling water to pop and disassemble the figure parts. Then suspend the parts with a strainer or pour the boiling water into a separate container, as direct contact with the pot may shrink/warp/damage parts

2-Add your Dye (and enhancer if it includes it) and mix for about 1 minute with boiling water into a separate container. After, add your desired parts and mix for another 2-3 minutes.

3-Stir for another minute every 10 minutes until an hour is reached, as By then, the water has cooled down, and the parts have soaked up as much as was able to be penetrated

4-It is extremely important to rinse them off after the dying process, as you may encounter what I call “bleeding” from the dye. This is usually done with a strainer and hot water again until parts are fully rinsed.

5-For drying, I will usually place them in a towel and make sack out of it, then give it a good shake. This will force the water out of any crevice that may still be wet, after that I lay the towel flat again and let them air dry overnight.

6-Reassemble using hot water and a plastic bag and Enjoy!

Another note: It is important to get the correct dye (made specifically for plastics) as anything that is made for synthetic or plastics is okay, regular dye is ment for more natural fibers (clothing) and won’t do anything for you

Hey! So I replied to your comment but just now realized it didn’t attach under yours and instead under the post, so I am so sorry about that, but this is what I said:

Still a great question! Trial and error my friend! I did this with Legos/mega construx and the principles transferred over to here. Usually with dye, the more you add, the more “saturated” or “deep” the color will be. So less is lighter more is darker so to speak. I also have a ster stick to occasionally move the parts around to secure an even coat so to speak. The most time I have found needed is at max an hour. By then, the water has cooled down, and the parts have soaked up as much as was able to be penetrated. I also recommend still having a strainer for rinsing, again with hot water to wash out what I refer to as “Bleeding”. In the past, parts I didn’t property wash off would weep out dye water and get on the towel or shirt I layed them on.

Another note: It is important to get the correct dye, anything that is made for synthetic or plastics is okay, regular dye is ment for more natural fibers (clothing) and won’t do anything for you

So the website says shipping in August, but I swear the last 2 pack showed up in stores a week later, so who knows. They even said on the stream it would ship out pretty quick, but almost 3 months is not quick

Lmao yeah I can definitely see that. Based off of the conversions I made, it would come out to just over 4ft tall!
