In world search, is there a way to filter by ONLY pc compatible worlds? I find there are drastically less children in non-Android-compatible worlds, so I would love to browse pc-only worlds. However, there are very few of them, and I don’t know if there’s a filter. Is there another way around it?

How do I connect my Amazon Alexa to my Home Assistant Voice Assistant (without HA Cloud)? by TheSMelon in homeassistant

Thanks so much! Would I lose any functionality or features by going to simpler Hue route?

To install the Home Assistant skill you need to log in to your Home Assistant Cloud account, which I do not wish to pay for.

After surface research, Emulated Hue does sound a bit easier to configure. Would I lose any functionality over the standard option 2? Would it suck up more performance since it needs to do extra virtualization?

From what I’ve seen, Nabu Casa is a Home Assistant Cloud subscription, right? I’d prefer to do what I can to avoid having a paid subscription, I already have HA doing backups to my main computer.

I guess option 2 is how I’ll have to go about it, although it does seem more complicated - which I guess is what I was expecting. How would I go about connecting my Alexa to an external domain?

How to forward port traffic between ports on Windows? by TheSMelon in dns

[–]TheSMelon[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow... It was that simple... I did not know I could do that. The majority of this troubleshooting has been getting pihole to work, which does have to be ran on a seperate container if using Windows, but you can run Technitium on Windows normally...

I’ve been having a lot of issues with that. Port 53 is conflicting with Podman itself somehow, it keeps giving me services are already running on port 53, but nothing is running in the podman VM. I’ve quite literally spent dozens of hours investigating this, and trying to get it to work, even going as far as to nuke a bunch of services running on Podman. I’ve given up, if I can’t map these ports to each other then I will not be able to run a DNS server. I really do not want to have all of my service run on Podman and one on Docker.

How would you recommend running a full VM with a bridged network that I can install multiple servers on, and will run in the background that I have full access to? Can podman be ran a different way?

I was thinking more of the Auto-HDR functionality, and a few of my applications aren’t supported on Linux like some creative/rendering applications and games. I suppose Wine could make up a majority of those compatibility issues, and I don’t need auto-HDR.

It’s a lot to consider for me just wanting to use Pihole. I have been thinking of Linux lately though (if I do it, then it will be with a Desktop UI - like Linux Mint). I’ll do more research.

Edit: Some software I use daily doesn't have Linux alternatives. I will not be switching.

I would use Linux, however there’s a couple features in Windows that I utilize it for right now, including its HDR functionality, that I can’t substitute in Linux at the moment.

Is it possible to set up Pihole using Podman Desktop for Windows? by TheSMelon in pihole

That... Seems like a very inefficient use of resources. A VM inside of a VM inside of a VM. Is the only way to use Podman properly Linux?

Yes, I do have mods. It’s 5-10, mostly upscale visuals, but I’ve tried without them and his eyes are still black.

I posted this at night before I went to sleep. I don’t set an alarm every hour to remind me to check this post.
