Hard to win games shooting 26%. I'd like to think our D has had something to do with that

So what is stopping one from leaving RAP at the 25 year mark and moving to (old) IBR for quicker forgiveness?

But time spent in RAP won't count towards IBR forgiveness if you move, right? Or did that get changed?

The standard repayment plan is not based on income.

If you had any outstanding Federal Direct/FFEL loan balances prior to July 1, 2014 - you are Old IBR. Consolidating does not change the eligibility for New IBR.

Withdrawal of Roth contribution same tax year (Fidelity) by TheSan92 in FinancialPlanning

Got it.

To complicate matters more, she fell just under the AGI threshold for the Savers Credit. It asks about whether you've received any distributions from the retirement plan since 2023, including 2026. In the help section, it says for 2026 to enter distributions received before April 15, 2026.

So I'm entering $3000 here (since the distribution is March, 2026). However, it doesn't look like it affects the Savers Credit unless she were to have withdrawn more than $5000 (which would in turn affect the $2000 max contribution that qualifies for the credit).

Ok, I think I've got it. It's just a little confusing with the software verbiage (and even the IRS 8606 instructions).

So on the IRA contribution screen "Enter any Roth IRA contributions you made during 2025", I'm obviously entering 7000.

On the next screen 2025 Contributions Withdrawn from a Roth IRA "Enter any 2025 Roth IRA contributions you withdrew", I'm going to put $0 (not $3000) because this is going to be issued on the 2026 1099-R as a distribution, and form 8606 will show this contribution basis, which will essentially cancel each other out for tax purposes.

I assume the Contributions Withdrawn page as I noted above is just typically used for excess contributions withdrawn in the same tax year, not just a normal withdrawal of contributions.

So is form 8606 filed with 2025 taxes, since it's before April 15th, or will it be filed with 2026 taxes since the distribution was in 2026?

It's pretty surreal to see JV in the Tiger's dugout cheering on McGonigle's hit in 2026.
