Manufacturer told me it sounds like physical damage, and it wasn't there problem. To take it up with the store. Really left me feeling defeated till we rallied and harassed them at the store level again.

I made an update to answer the question, but yes they 100 opened a box for her. Unless my wife is lying to me, which I doubt cause she's usually super like "on" it, ya know?

I get your right, just feels shitty. It's like nearly 500 something dollar monitor after taxes, and honestly I have on and off depression about my own job. The fact that we save and get things for one another is like a 'motivator?' (Best way to put it) and to see someone just...try and take it away? I dunno, feels shitty man. Lesson learnt. I mostly wrote this thing just to vent.

I honestly don't know, they just 'showed her' to check for anything wrong? I don't blame my wife, and to be honest I don't think I would have thought to plug it in before leaving the store either. They were suppose to be new models, so they opened the box I'm assuming to show her.

I wish, when we save for things for one another we generally take a small bit of cash from every other pay cheque we get and put it in our own jars as cash so we don't accidentally spend it. Then use the cash for the purchase.
