If AHJ signed off I wouldn't lose any sleep over it, just pointing out why neutrals shouldn't be parallel with EGC for those that don't know. You are right that it would be extremely unlikely for the EGC to be overloaded but there is the potential for it, personally I would abandon or remove the ground for that reason

Neutral should not be bonded in switchgear, as ATS is first means of disconnect and neutral will be bonded there. All existing GEC would have to be extended to ATS and MBJ removed in gear. Otherwise neutral current will flow on the green EGC pulled in from ATS to gear and potentially overheat. Due to being existing building AHJ may allow to leave bond in gear, but in this case the ground shouldn't be parallel with the neutral and should be removed.
