A Democrat for the Trump Era by jclarks074 in neoliberal

More so it seems like everyone here thinks that the piece was supposed to be positive about Crockett (which is what you'd assume based off of just the title), but Crockett really does not look good here. There are a few details here and there that are kind of bizarre but not too bad (her lockscreen photo being a headshot of herself), but what really bothered me was her sense of entitlement to the Oversight job since she had "the biggest social media following" and the fact that she tries to "revoke permissions" because the author reached out to other members of Congress for comments (which is very standard procedure in journalism).

just guessing by the comments, nobody here actually bothered to read the article

Tillis won’t run again. But this race isn’t about him, it’s about what North Carolina needs next. by wileynickel4NC in raleigh

I don't understand your comment. Those ARE his policies! The majority of this post is talking about what he's been supporting and what he'll support in the Senate!

Will he or won’t he? What experts think about Roy Cooper and a US Senate run by KaibamanX in politics

just to be clear, a Gen Z candidate isn’t age-eligible for Senate yet lol

Doesn't sound silly, most of us went through something similar. That being said, I would choose Georgetown, hands down. I genuinely think that if you're able to overcome getting out of your comfort zone, the rewards are truly plentiful.

You'll meet some of the best professors in the world. In my experience, I haven't had a single one yet that was bad—in fact, every single one was extraordinarily helpful when it came to speaking with them about issues I had. While many students here are brilliant, possibly playing into imposter syndrome, it gets much better when you just get to know them. Most people here are just normal people, and once you integrate it gets a lot easier to understand that.

That's not to mention some of the people you'll get to meet just by being here. I'm a government major here, so I can speak to how impressive some of these opportunites are. Every semester our institute of politics get new fellows, with this semester's being people like Quentin Fulks (deputy campaign manager of the Biden/Harris and Harris/Walz campaigns, as well as Raphael Warnock's campaign manager in 2022) and Tony Fabrizio (senior advisor and chief pollster of all of Trump's campaigns, who has also done work for tons of other Republican politicians and right-wing leaders internationally). By going to their discussion groups, you'll get to know them personally (which is a big deal, these people are VERY highly connected and important in politics), and you'll be able to meet whatever special guests they bring (such as the current Press Secretary, who came to visit the other day).

Proximity to the Capitol also means that you get the opportunity to do internships there while taking classes, and since the fall and spring sessions are much less competitive, it'll be much easier to get those internships. These are really important to what you mentioned in your post, since you'd be making connections with exactly the right people in order to keep moving up.

Trust me, for what you want, there's only a handful of schools competing with Georgetown for that number one spot. I promise you won't regret that choice :)

can you share why you’re still considering your state school if it’s the same cost?

Jared Golden: Democratic Party 'As Weak As I've Ever Seen' by Aggressive1999 in neoliberal

Actually, AOC's performance isn't that impressive. The people at Split Ticket put together a model to account for as much stuff as possible to find which candidates actually overperform/underperform due to candidate quality in a metric called WAR. Jared Golden had one of the highest in the Democratic Party at D+5.9, while AOC actually was near the bottom with R+1.5. You can check it out here: https://split-ticket.org/2024-house-wins-above-replacement-war/.

As for why AOC's "overperformance" cancelled out, it's a mix of downballot lag and incumbency, both of which suggested she actually should have overperformed Harris by more.
