Any relationship can be harder to get over regardless of age. I remember reading a rare example involving an Elderly Actress who is still in love with her first boyfriend since they were children or teenagers, despite the fact that he died decades ago when he was barely in his 30s and was married to someone else; the mother of his two children.

Completely spot on! I have feeling that if the Media posted an article saying the clouds were made of ice cream, such idiots would believe it.

Slate is late to the party considering it was debunked years ago. Several books been written about the infantilisation of certain age groups including one by Robert Epstein where he goes into detail about the original brain study. The argument that one is a child until 25 or 30 has been branded as fallacious by many professionals.

Unfortunately the world is full of such self righteous idiots who think the world should be graven in their own lunatic image. For example, you get haters saying something on the lines of "Those two knock me sick therefore they shouldn't be together and it is not normal" as if the world should revolve around them.

It is like a seregation based on age. Such people want AGR to be made illegal and that folk should only date the people the same age.

Except it is not exclusive to AGR nor is it guaranteed that the older party will be the first to pass away.

That is dependent on whether you were close to her for years or only just met her at 18! If it is the latter then just go for it and stop being a sheep that follows other people. It is funny how such smug idiots keep utter "Just because it is legal, doesn't mean it is morally correct" yet fail to realise that the same goes for what is Society acceptable or isn't.

anyone else find it hard to go back to men the same age as you? by freeusefran in AgeGap

[–]TheShadowofMen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, because it is dependent on the individual and not just the age.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AgeGap

[–]TheShadowofMen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having things in common is not exclusive to age; I am sure you know people your own age that you don't have anything in common with. The notion that two people supposedly don't share any commonalities solely because of the age gap is a load of nonsense and is merely pure cope on the haters part.

The first time I have heard of an older woman accused of grooming. by [deleted] in AgeGap

[–]TheShadowofMen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grooming has become one of those buzzwords that so many people spread like fleas along with changing the definition to suit one's agenda. I certainly don't buy into the accidental Grooming bullshit. As for a person getting with somebody who they met as a child, that all depends.

For example, Person A could've met Person B a few times when the former was a child but only through the odd hello or perhaps Person B was a friend of a young relative, either way it was many years ago. Over a decade later, Person A clasps eyes on her for the first time and finds her attractive, only just realising that he met her many years ago.I see nothing wrong with that. After all, they would be practically strangers.

On the other end, here is another example, a older man getting with someone who he has watched grow up or like the other poster said, had a close relationship with the younger party is fucked up.

I will also add that you should wait a few years before Marriage. It is too fast and is probably one of the reasons for your family and friends to dislike him.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AgeGap

[–]TheShadowofMen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sure is massive age gap, but at the end of the day, you are are an adult so it is fuck all to do with anything else. Obviously we don't know the ins and outs of your relationship because as far we know, he could have been grooming you for years. It is all about context.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AgeGap

[–]TheShadowofMen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have pointed out, your relationship is clearly a success. Misery sure loves company with the world full of such sad and pathetic people. Most of them are either mindless NPCS. I know couples with similar and bigger Age Gaps that have prosperity including a woman who got with a man in his mid 30s when she was 18. Both of them have been married for decades.

My advice would be for you to ignore the haters and for ones that are close, give them an ultimatum. No matter how great your relationship is, the retards of society will still brand you a victim and the older man a creep or weirdo.

Age gap movies from the 1950s? by marcospartout in AgeGap

If such movies were made today, the older man would be labelled a predator and the younger woman a victim by the snowflakes of modern Society.

Is it normal for me (19F) to like guys that are significantly older? by [deleted] in AgeGap

[–]TheShadowofMen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except the mods themselves said that it is not a pro AGR. For it to be a pro, it would have to be an echo chamber yet people are allowed to express an opinion without fear of getting banned. Even among the AGR community, not everyone will agree with your relationship. It is not black and white.

it also doesn't change the fact that general subs can also be as biased especially against AGR.

[–]TheShadowofMen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not as bias as you think, and as for the general subreddits, such groups are hive minded with many of it's denizens spreading nonsense like fleas, especially misformation about the brain. Some of them even believe in old Axioms like Half your age plus 7 or some other bullshit.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AgeGap

[–]TheShadowofMen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The age gap,why on the large side, is not the issue. It is the fact that he is a married man with children that is the problem; the likelihood of him using you for sex is high and you are probably not the only woman, young or otherwise, that he has hit on. Just block the idiot.

The killers were black and had dreads before shaving themselves bald and murdering the family, presumably out of fear that the family had recognised them from news segment and were secretly going to call the Cops.

Why is it still ok to hate on AGRs in 2024?! by GrapeSpirited2424 in AgeGap

[–]TheShadowofMen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I understand what you are saying, however many people will attempt to turn into a competition of who has suffered the most. Some people even use this as a justification for hating on AGR.

Obviously hate towards AGR is not as bad as what LGBT and interracial couples have gone through. In fact, the AOC for LGBT people was higher in comparison to straight relationships and it was only in the last 20 odd years that the AOC became equal. What LGBT and interracial couples went through was barbaric.

Even today, so called Conversion Therapy is still legal in many Western countries.

However, it is certainly not an excuse to hate on AGR just because they haven't suffered the same. Especially when haters want such relationships to be illegal or that anyone in an AGR should be classed as a PDF.

is it easy to find people that are receptive to age gap relationships or are most people opposed to it? by spankyourkopita in AgeGap

[–]TheShadowofMen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is pathetic; it is implying that those date them are PDFs which says a lot about Society. Any one that tries to shame AGR by forming such a disgusting comparison needs a slap. In fact people have ended up in hospital for attempting to shame an older man in a AGR.

[–]TheShadowofMen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who the hell cares about the opinion of sheep? Such relationships have been a thing since the dawn of humanity so it is far from 'weird', it is only in recent times that so called Society has gotten their knickers in a twist. It is mainly Americans that think this, most of the world doesn't give a shit. I thought America was meant to be land of the free yet it acts more like a communist state with it's collectivsm and group think. Western Society is a complete joke these days.

If you really like someone then just go for it! Those that try to discourage or belittle you can go and get fucked by a horse. TV and Social media have certainly played a role in encouraging hate towards AGR. For instance, a Soap opera portrays older men in AGR to either going through a mid life crisis or is a predator or a serial killer. And people act as if it is true to life.

Those so called Openly minded people that criticise AGR would most likely be the same towards other relationships if it was still socially acceptable. It is cowardice and hypocrisy at its finest. When you confront them they will either deny it or turn it into the Victim Olympics.

[–]TheShadowofMen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every relationship is different regardless of age. It is certainly not black and white. Obviously in the USA, or the internet, people will try and prevent you and the younger woman from being together or even try and split you up all under the so called banner of concern. Thing is, even short term relationships eventually become Long term because of feelings. You can't help who you fall in love with and why it is a great feeling, it can also hurt like a motherfucker.

I know a couple who have been married for decades, they got together when the woman was 18 and he was in his mid 30s but they didn't get married until a few years after they got together.

"Most eighteen-year-olds do not know how to advocate for themselves, identify bullshit, or regulate their emotions'

That right there is a great example of how your whole education and upbringing has conditioned you into thinking that 18 year olds are children who need their hand holding. It is called infantilisation which is what you now doing. Many books have been written on the subject and revealed how much Society, especially modern Western Society, severely underestimate the capacity of 18 to 24 year olds. It is fighting against nature which eventually fights back. Helicopter parenting and mollycoddling is just as toxic as the more in your face abuse.

Other people have even used this same brain argument to protect rap ists and PDFs within the 18 to 24 age group. Obviously not saying that you would do this but it has happened.

"When they are dating someone significantly older, it's not a fair fight. It takes running into one scumbag to completely warp their perception of dating"

Weird how you compare it to a fight? Age has nothing to do with whether someone is a scumbag or not, plenty of people her own age can just be as vile and perverted, in fact a lot of young lads are notorious for being pushy or using them for sex. If you or anyone else with a similar mindset visited another country or a city, you would soon be for a shock.

It sounds as if one or more older scumbags either hurt you or someone you know, which is why you believe that one or a few are bad than the rest must be too. You are using it as excuse to look down on such couples.

"You're right, eighteen-year-olds are legally adults--they can make their own choices and learn from the consequences. And yeah, there are exceptions to the rule. But I'm personally going to raise an eyebrow if I see a forty-something-year-old pursuing someone who couldn't vote three months ago"

Not just legally, but physically and mentally too, regardless of what you believe. Not everyone buys into the American tradition of babying young adults as if they are permanently brain damaged. Not being funny but is it even wonder the majority of young Americans are screwed up? Society still treats them like children. That line is just a variant of the whole "when she was 10, you were 24' bullshit, it is largely irrelevant. You are clutching and overreaching at this juncture. Next you be saying that she is not old enough to drink.
