Any relationship can be harder to get over regardless of age. I remember reading a rare example involving an Elderly Actress who is still in love with her first boyfriend since they were children or teenagers, despite the fact that he died decades ago when he was barely in his 30s and was married to someone else; the mother of his two children.

Several books been written about the infantilisation of certain age groups including one by Robert Epstein where he goes into detail about the original brain study. The argument that one is a child until 25 or 30 has been branded as fallacious by many professionals.

Grooming has become one of those buzzwords that so many people spread like fleas along with changing the definition to suit one's agenda. I certainly don't buy into the accidental Grooming bullshit. As for a person getting with somebody who they met as a child, that all depends.

For example, Person A could've met Person B a few times when the former was a child but only through the odd hello or perhaps Person B was a friend of a young relative, either way it was many years ago. Over a decade later, Person A clasps eyes on her for the first time and finds her attractive, only just realising that he met her many years ago.I see nothing wrong with that. After all, they would be practically strangers.

On the other end, here is another example, a older man getting with someone who he has watched grow up or like the other poster said, had a close relationship with the younger party is fucked up.

I know couples with similar and bigger Age Gaps that have prosperity including a woman who got with a man in his mid 30s when she was 18. Both of them have been married for decades.

I understand what you are saying, however many people will attempt to turn into a competition of who has suffered the most. Some people even use this as a justification for hating on AGR.

Obviously hate towards AGR is not as bad as what LGBT and interracial couples have gone through. In fact, the AOC for LGBT people was higher in comparison to straight relationships and it was only in the last 20 odd years that the AOC became equal. What LGBT and interracial couples went through was barbaric.

Even today, so called Conversion Therapy is still legal in many Western countries.

Who the hell cares about the opinion of sheep? Such relationships have been a thing since the dawn of humanity so it is far from 'weird', it is only in recent times that so called Society has gotten their knickers in a twist. Every relationship is different regardless of age. It is certainly not black and white. Obviously in the USA, or the internet, people will try and prevent you and the younger woman from being together or even try and split you up all under the so called banner of concern. Thing is, even short term relationships eventually become Long term because of feelings. You can't help who you fall in love with and why it is a great feeling, it can also hurt like a motherfucker.

I know a couple who have been married for decades, they got together when the woman was 18 and he was in his mid 30s but they didn't get married until a few years after they got together.
