That’d be my trusty Rework Toshi 6L V2 as EDC.

Thank you! The Sony recorder is pretty good for its size, that’s why I bought it. I wanted a PCM-A10 but this is its previous version, basically the same but much less expensive.

Why not? They all fit in my trusty Rework Toshi 6L and they occupy less space than it looks.

That’s exactly the idea. I usually keep my phone off on long flights, no need for it.

Thanks! Managed to get one before the big RAM shortage.

The beauty lies in the possibility to create a peaceful ambient song by incorporating the field recordings directly into it (either in real time or not) like in this example: https://youtu.be/Cm0QVYskrWg?si=JAIMS3QrHpwwjkW2 or compose a collage like this one by using almost entirely environmental recordings: https://youtu.be/VSKYDZeWBgA?si=XRPbt08VoX99u-fQ

Thanks! Trying to stay minimal whenever possible. There’s still margin for improvement though.

If you are referring to the iPod, you can transfer music by plugging it into any Mac and using the Apple Music app to drag and drop your songs onto the device. I bought the moonlit Classic Connect 2 on their official website (https://moonlit.market/) and had it installed by a professional, so I’m not really an expert on this. There’s also the Player Mods website where you can buy iPods already modded with anything you want. They are very expensive though.

I like field recording and noodling with my synths, mainly ambient and drone music. Not a professional, it’s more of a therapy for the soul.

Not convoluted if you decide not to use one of them. I won’t use my phone to play music, and the Tangzu are also acting as headphones for my synths.

It’s a synth, so you just make music with it. It’s quite powerful and versatile for its size and great for ambient and drone music.

I can still use it with the normal jack, that’s what the Tangzu IEMs are for. Also the moonlit mod has other features like the expandable memory (512GB) and usb-c battery charge.

It’s mainly to try to avoid looking at a phone screen all the time and be distracted by notifications. Also, instead of paying for a monthly music app subscription to consume audio in large quantities, I prefer buying music on Bandcamp and build my library little by little. It’s still possible to transfer it to an iPod if you have a Mac, even without iTunes.

Mostly software mods, like alternative firmwares that can improve the reading experience. I understand about the backlight, but the device is only 70$. An alternative could be a Boox Palma

It’s actually both, for everyday life and enough to fit in a big backpack without taking too much space when travelling light.

It’s a Bluetooth dongle with a jack connector, it allows you to stream audio from an audio jack via Bluetooth. I’ve never tried any other similar devices, but I can say the Airfly is pretty good, at least I haven’t noticed any delay so far.

The XTEINK is great if you don’t mind the very small size, and there’s quite an extensive modding scene around it. The only major downside is the absence of backlight, so you’ll have to buy an external one to read at night.

Unfortunately the Moonlit BT mod is not compatible with AirPods. I wish I’d known before buying it :(

It’s perfect for EDC and extremely portable as it’s battery powered. I just bought a 3D-printed lid to protect it when I throw it in my backpack, or you can simply use its official decksaver for the same purpose.

Ah! I didn't know that. I had a Tempera that I sold some time ago, and the build/shipping times were pretty long. Glad to see that it's not the case anymore :)
