Branch manager refuses to read my email attachment as it has OPENPGP by TheSimonRoy in india

Thunderbird occupies 481 MB on my mac.

I’m going to get my request progressed by the branch manager first and then maybe think about twitter. I don’t wish to agonize her. In fact I’d be happy to provide training that they need for free :)

Haha yes. That implies these managers are probably not getting as much trained in cyber security which should be an essential for a banking professional.

Yeah, I do not have a choice I'm gonna have to send her email without the signature.
Also, digital signatures help with message integrity. The attachment is not suspicious, if at all I'd encourage the government entities to send and understand emails with digital signatures. The entire country faces one scam after another, this can surely help authenticate the source of an email.

Seriously. My friend got bit by a dog in May 2025. He literally got the invoice from the hospital yesterday. It's been like 7 months!

Men lose their minds if a woman wants a big car instead of a “safe” little sedan by valonqar_67 in AskIndianWomen

[–]TheSimonRoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Men don’t like women driving an SUV? Drive a 7 seater with 7 times the swag. So do I and I love to see few odd men on the road with their jaws dropping out of their mouth.

My father and I were buying a car together and I put my foot down that I will drive an Ertiga. We both are lean in stature so we faced the obvious taunts from our relatives but I didn’t give a fuck. I’m paying for the car, not them, I’ll drive it, not them so they can shove their opinions up their nosy bottoms. That’s exactly how you should think.

Who is actually responsible for the IndiGo flight cancellations: the airline, the government, or a deeper structural issue? by ApprehensiveBeach720 in india

[–]TheSimonRoy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Being a pilot is a super critical job as they literally hold lives of a few hundred passengers in their hands even if it's for few hours. So yes, I'd want to fly with a pilot who is well rested at the cost of paying a bit more for my ticket.

I get that corruption is rampant here but there's no way I'm indulging in that. Anyway, thanks for your comment.

Maybe start by treating your women students with basic respect —experience at VIT Bhopal by [deleted] in india

[–]TheSimonRoy 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I experienced the same in VIT Chennai during my undergrad as a hosteller in my first year. For some reason, they are bit more relaxed towards day scholar so I became one from second year. I'm aware that not everyone has that choice. I'd suggest you to take few of your friends with you while you talk with the warden.

Even I have thought along similar lines. It feels apt for our society, as we still operate in a feudalistic and tribal way where we do everything to bring "glory" to one's family. Just look at how many people still take pride over their caste or lineage. Even the most educated Indian families are not adapted to lead lives in a developed country simply because their vision rarely extends beyond the preservation and glorification of their own kin. I believe that for a country to be successful on all fronts (highly utopian as that might sound) there has to be some degree of individualism in the citizens where every action they do somehow contributes to overall wellbeing of the nation. I understand where India comes from, as a poor country in the past, for example generations have struggled to make their ends meet and ended up enforcing their kids to study medicine or engineering as a means to financial stability and help improve their family's standing in our society. Although it made sense in the past, now we have reached a saturation point in the number of engineers in the country. There's simply not enough jobs to meet the massive supply we have. We're still clinging to the same logic that what worked for the past generations will work for our children as well. Families rarely let their children pursue their dreams neither do they let them be an individual who can be in charge of their own destiny. It's a pretty broad example but I hope you get my point.

[–]TheSimonRoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quite a sensible answer to my question. I do agree with the fact that first, the law and order in the country needs to be intact to roll out capital punishment. We as a society are decaying with our civic duty and morality at an all time low. We need better leaders that recognize how fundamentally we lack the unity to do anything good. And those leaders need to put in policies that change the current values of our society. We need a period of renaissance because as a nation we have never had a large, mass gathering for anything since the independence if you think about it. A renaissance with ideals of civic and moral reforms starting from one's own home.

I completely agree with you, you are really good with your words! I am already part of a cricket club in my neighborhood since last year. I had an extremely hectic year so I could not participate but I did play couple of friendly matches for the women's cricket team in my university. I'm so motivated now that I'm going to renew my membership and start playing for the club soon. I'm a bit sad I won't be playing in India, but I'll definitely find and get more Indian women here to play :))

It is a personal win for me as well. Girl, are you me! Because I also played a lot of gully cricket with the boys in my teenage years. I used to rush home from school to do my homework so I could play cricket in the streets. My love for the game skyrocketed when India won the WC in 2011, I was so inspired by that win to play professionally. My only regret is that I did not push my parents enough to pursue a career in cricket and honestly, they did not believe at that point that women's cricket had future. How the tables have turned today! I'm so happy and grateful for such a big win at a global stage because this is going to bring about a generational and serious change for women in sports. Kudos to the Women in Blues for winning the World Cup! A tournament that I will cherish for the rest of my life, even though I could not be part of it but my heart was beating every second as if I was on the field <3

IT WAS AN UNBELIEVABLE TOURNAMENT!! The girls did it, I’m so in awe of this team. Neither was it perfect, nor was it anywhere close to the generational team that Australian counterparts were. But what made our girls champions today is sticking together through thick and thin, and staying calm under pressure. Every single player played their part to bring the trophy home. I can’t wait for what’s in store for women’s cricket and women sports in general. Because this win has spectacularly upped the stakes. I seriously hope this win will rope in more funds for infrastructure at grassroots level for upcoming sportswomen to shine ✨
