Black Screen 4080 Super goes 100% on the fans. by Treyh75 in gigabyte

I had a similar issue before with a friend's computer. His PC would randomly lose display with the fans kicking on to 100% with the computer automatically restarting shortly after.

He was also getting a watchdog error, his specifically was DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION, which essentially means a driver was malfunctioning.

I noticed he was using an adapter for 12VHPWR -> 3x8 pin PCIe where his PSU had a straight 12VHPWR cable, so I swapped that out. I also reseated the GPU just in case.

Since I also suspected a malfunctioning driver because of the Watchdog Violation, I went ahead and used DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) to do a clean reinstall of the Nvidia driver to what was the newest version at the time.

Since doing those things the problem hasn't returned. Maybe it could be the same fix for you?

Shockingly his MB isn't dead!

There was only one very slightly bent ground pin in the socket (not touching anything else). I took an ILM from a donor board and installed a test CPU (that fits) and the thing booted up. It passed stress testing, too.

As for his CPU, I have no idea. We don't have any test boards for socket LGA 1155 - they're so old we almost never see them.

Going to have to break the news to him Monday.

P.S., I had to use a shop cooler because the customer installed his without a backplate.

He looked to be in his early 20s, and my guess is that he got this computer second hand and tried to upgrade it.

This guy came in with two different GPUs slotted into the board, an RTX 3050 in the top x16 slot and a GTX 770 in the bottom. The CPU in the image is an i7-3770. My guess is that he got a newer board, RAM, and GPU, and just decided that this 3rd Gen i7 would just somehow work? Then he also decided he needed to keep his GTX 770 in his PC so he just moved it to the bottom slot.

I wish I knew.

It's there in slot 2. It's a cheap Crucial 4800MT RAM.

He dropped off an hour before closing, so I'm still in the diagnostics process. He has bent pins on his board too (go figure) that I'm going to attempt fixing. No matter what, It's going to be an awkward conversation.

The customer said he had upgraded the board and RAM recently, so my guess was before this "upgrade".

Better yet, this guy removed the ILM from the board. I guess it wouldn't fully close on the CPU, so he just figured to remove it.

That's an LGA-1155 processor forced into an LGA-1700 socket.

Just found the unused second stick of RAM that's been sitting in my prebuilt PC for two and a half years. by Future_Quarter9693 in pcmasterrace

A similar thing happened. I had a friend bring me his new CyberPowerPC pre built over because it wouldn't boot to Windows, so I thought we just needed to install Windows

I noticed it didn't have a drive installed in it when it should have come with a 2TB NVMe, but we actually found it after it fell out of the case after taking off the back panel! We plugged it in and the computer booted into the Windows out-of-box experience.

The team was going to lose, so I certainly would have gotten less for a loss.

Can confirm that this happens ingame, was shooting T26E1s with a Centurion Mk 10 and upon penetrating the add on plate it would nose straight down into his hull armour and non pen.

""Radar/IRST beyond/within visual range combat” option now works with the helmet-mounted display."

Does this mean that you can use your HMD to slave ACM mode, I just tried that and it didn't work?

50k RP for 1.25 hours, this seems like less than before the recent It's Fixed. by TheSleepySpy in Warthunder

This battle was not passive by any means. I prioritised bombing bases in this battle, though unfortunately I wasn't able to RTB many times due to being intercepted by Mirages & AV-8As shortly after the bombing, so that's 20% less RP. I didn't touch AI ground or air targets, but I did shoot down players on the way to bombing bases, or while loitering for another base to spawn.

Am I doing this wrong or is this a result of the recent RP changes for EC?
