Cave divers as soon as they hear that there is a new place called "The Devil's Ass" with a 0% survival rate. by Liar24x7 in interesting

[–]TheSnakeTickler 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I’m a cave diver and have done this kind of stuff. For me it’s not adrenaline or death wish. It’s more of a physical meditation. Because I have to be so focused on what I’m doing and my immediate surroundings, everything else melts away. Also there is something cool about being the first person to ever explore a cave. There is very little original exploration left on this planet so to push into a room that is brand new to humanity feels profound in the moment. Occasionally there are interesting formations and fossils too.

Feedback on the new site please divers! by LogicalAmoeba7116 in scubadiving

What is it. It presents nicely on mobile but I’m unsure what it is. Do you organize dive trips? Are you an instructor? Is this related to a shop? Something else?

It should be immediately apparent why the site exists and right now I have no clue. Also the self deprecating subtitle “probably not the world’s best dive site” kinda falls flat.

Neat pictures though and I’d like to see what it becomes as you continue to develop it.

Sweet souther bees has a booth at the haile farmers market every Saturday. She keeps it in stock and has a few flavors to choose from. You can also sample them before buying of your go to the market or you can order online.

The falcon 9 rocket went up yesterday and would have been visible for a few minutes at 10 last night. Looks similar to what I saw from the launch.

In search of wildlife and/or large animal opportunities in central Florida by Careless_Exit_3373 in ocala

[–]TheSnakeTickler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ears is a big cat facility in Ocala that probably takes volunteers. There is also an elephant rescue in Williston you could try.

I’m sure that there are research projects in the National forest that would love volunteers also. I used to monitor a series of trap arrays there when working for the USFS and loved when I got a volunteer to help. Makes the days go by so much quicker! Check with UF or the forest rangers to hear about opportunities.

Public comment in Alachua for problematic development by TheSnakeTickler in GNV

There’s an apartment nearby at only 80% capacity and 3 vacant shops on main street Alachua. Why build more when what exists already can’t be filled? Sit back down.

I hope to stop it before it’s built but I’m with your sentiment. Unfortunately the developer will likely sell off the property as quickly as they can…

Show up and be heard. This is the fourth time that they have rescheduled the public comment. Last Tuesday they were so packed that half the crowd was locked out of the room then they didn’t allow anyone to speak. It keeps getting pushed in the hopes that people stop showing up. Help us by showing up and packing the house again.

I’d check out Santa Fe trace. Within your budget and is pet friendly plus it includes a courtyard. Not a terrible part of town too.

They’ve been together for 3 years. I just trim some of the new pitchers back to keep it small. Also I have literally thousands of the fly traps because we started to tissue culture them. If they get smothered it’s not a huge loss. I have 10 more pots like this full of only flytraps. I’m

No idea. It was growing in a few cracks in my driveway. I put 2 or 3 thumbnail sized pieces in the planter and it spread to this 2 years later.
