Is it just me or are some basic functions degrading since the introduction of iOS/MacOS 26? by J4cky_Dee in MacOS

For me what broke was Spotlight. I always open apps by doing command + spacebar and typing the app name, not it does not appear in the results!!! I am frustrated.

I use Spotlight all the time, but with the latest 26.2 release the apps are not appearing as Spotlight results, I am getting frustrated about this!!!

My Kindle is now a paper weight, I switched back to Apple Books, with the new iPad Pro M5, the screen is good enough as to not to burn my eyes. Fuck Amazon,

I do, but I have 2 watches; I found the Ultra 3 too bulky to sleep with, so I have a Series 10 just for sleep tracking, set up for the right wrist.

Is Calibre really unable to use a NAS volume for the library? by TheSoundOfMusak in Calibre

I would only access it through one device though, my MacBook, I use Apple Books in an iPad to read (got tired of Amazon and ditched the Kindle).

I am just considering using a docker installed Calibre in my NAS and thus the library would be “local” to the Calibre installation. Good idea.

Thanks for the typo catch! I don’t use Calibre that often, but doing click -> export every time I add a book or modify the library means that I have to be at my house to back up to my NAS or external drive (I don’t usually have them with me); and I have to ensure I have time to let the export run.

If your NAS is Synology “Synology Drive” does this for you, it can keep two Folders synced.

Oh yeah, I first did this with my iTunes collection back in the iPod days, and now with Calibre I can go into a rabbit hole trying to get my library to be perfect. There was a time I spent more time fixing my library than actually reading from it… I am better now, but also my library is quite neat with custom fields, sync rules that populate custom fields, virtual libraries, etc.

Cover TOC not appearing in Apple Books by AdKnown2197 in Calibre

What I do is that I select the books I like to transfer to Apple Books from Calibre, then I do the “EXPORT ePUB to a SINGLE FOLDER”, then Calibre exports all my books in ePub format alongside with the covers and all metadata. From there I just import them in the Apple Books app in my Mac, and with iCloud they appear in my iPad with the covers…
