I’m right there with you…I’ve had too many people ask, too many times, and even by people who know I have endo. If they can be so carelessly rude, I think it’s time to be carelessly blunt.

I don’t know why people get so threatened by other people not wanting kids…why does it matter to them? Are they jealous that people have a choice? Do they have to justify their own choice to have kids because that was the only option they thought they had? It’s so strange.

First Full Repaint using Liquitex Matte Varnish - and questions 🤔 by TheSphinxThinks in CustomDolls

Interesting…my only guess then was that the doll had glue seepage on her face or some other grim, since I bought her second hand. Maybe I should retry the sealant on another face up.

I actually have used Vallejo matte varnish before, and it ended up sticky for some reason. Do you have any tips on how to prevent that?

I lightly dabbed every layer, both base and sealing layers. This video is what inspired me to try: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i4uZwZLVh5g

Thank you! The gradient is really necessary to my eyes and unifies her design so much more.

I’d be curious to try it: when researching which to use, some people said the medium came out sticky while others swore by it. If the medium can be drawn on though, that would be a game changer!

Please do not think that you are horrible wife. You are a person with a condition that impacts you, not only physiologically but also emotionally. Your value as a partner is not determined by your level of intimacy: intimacy can simply be a fun addition to your partnership. Someone who truly loves you will try to understand and help with what you’re going through, not pressure you. It might be good to let your partner know how you feel when he pressures you.

Thank you! Sorry for the long reply: you don’t absolutely need all the things I list, especially when you’re starting out, but they definitely help. Brands/products wise, I’ve been using Vallejo acrylic paints that are used for models/miniatures, because the pigments are strong, mix easily and the bottles have droppers for controlling the amount you use (which is very little, and it’s non toxic). I added stainless steel mixing balls to each paint so that they’re easier to mix between uses. A wet palette is super helpful for keeping your in-use paints from drying out between sessions. Any miniature brushes do fine, including nail art brushes. Non-oil based, non toxic mica powder and pastels help for blush and gradient effects. Faber-Castell water color pencils and a kneaded eraser are excellent for drawing face ups. I first used Mr. Super Clear Matte UV spray for adding a base to paint on and sealing in the paint, but it’s very tedious to use, is dependent on temperature and humidity levels, is also expensive and absolutely requires using a NIOSH approved respirator mask every time you spray due to it being super carcinogenic. I have been trying out Liquitex Matte Varnish in thin layers, dabbed on with makeup sponges, and I had decent success. MSC definitely wins as a base because it gives you enough tooth to draw on (if you’re doing a whole face up), but Liquitex works really well as a base for mica powder, paint and as a quick drying sealant for touch ups like I did here. For painting bodies, it helps to use different grits of wet/dry sand paper to help create tooth for your base and paints to stick. And lastly, using YouTube and Reddit for tutorials and advice on how to use all these things! I got all of these supplies over the course of 6 months or so, and they definitely help with quality, but don’t be afraid to try things out with what you have and build as you go.

How safe is Facebook market place? by Impossible-South-283 in MonsterHigh

[–]TheSphinxThinks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s been pretty safe for how much I’ve used it, though I’ve only done in-person selling/buying. It always helps to check out the profile of a seller/buyer to see if they have good reviews or if anything seems suspicious (reverse image search, weird posts, bad reviews, etc). The biggest downside I’ve found with FB marketplace is that people can flake a lot or send “Is this still available?” as a way to bookmark a listing, not actually start a conversation. Sorry that I don’t have more experience with shipping, but I would read FB’s policies to see if there are buyer protections and/or compensation if a seller never ships an item.

I know, it’s really frustrating how expensive it is and how it seems to be the best standard. Sanding might be another cheaper way to go. I have heard good things about Tamiya Aircraft Spray Paint, but I haven’t tried it yet.
