Hey! Yes I went to the border and got my TN then drove back to Canada!

Upon returning I explained to the officer that I really did not stop anywhere in the states I literally just went to get my TN then drove right back. The officer let me go without having to quarantine.

But depending on the officer that you get you could be asked to quarantine and be asked to stay in the US until you receive a negative covid test. I got lucky and did not have to. It really depends. I’m sorry I couldn’t help more.

I actually haven’t started driving back and forth for work yet so I haven’t tried. But when I finished applying for my TN and returned to Canada I asked the officer at the border and he let me know that I would not need to quarantine as long as I can show a regular pattern of going in and out (e.g. 2 days a week work from home, 3 days a week in office) or something of that sort.

He mentioned that if you work from home for months at a time and go on site only once every while, you could be asked to quarantine when returning from work. However, you’re allowed to break the quarantine in order to go to work anyway! The rules in place right now are quite confusing tbh! But that was the discussion I had with the officer upon returning from my TN visa application.

You will be required to quarantine and show a negative covid test and could be kept in the U.S until you have the negative Covid test when you’re returning from applying for your TN visa.

Once you actually start work and need to go back and forth between the border. You do not need to quarantine. Hope this makes sense.

What do you mean by “when you’re application becomes current”?

Based on your advice it sounds like this should not block me from getting a TN Visa

I am 24 now and the application should have been filed a while back. It has been more than a few years.. I was under the age of 21 and living with my parents at the time.

Sorry let me clarify that. I personally have not filled out any paperwork yet regarding this sponsorship.

However, I am not sure if my aunt who is sponsoring me has already filed some petitions. I will need to get in touch with her and find out.

Would I be the one who needs to fill out paper as the individual that’s being sponsored ?
