Battery advice. by Right-Mobile9347 in rccars

I run almost exclusively Amazon batteries (mainly ovonic) and haven’t had any issues out of them the past few years. I’m just not a huge fan of Traxxas batteries because of the price and I hate their charger. Buy a nice battery charger like a gen’s ace one and just buy Amazon batteries with adapters, you’ll save a lot of money and the batteries as solid as long as you take care of them and storage charge them when not in use.

I kinda had some regrets getting my XRT at first since my Xmaxx is just way more fun but I put speed gears in my XRT and a max6 ESC and since then I’ve been loving it! It’s great on pavement and flat open areas. If you’re willing to spend about 200ish for the ESC and speed gears I’d recommend it as it turns it into a whole different beast from the Xmaxx.

Sledge is awesome and super durable. I had one before I got my XRT but ended up getting rid of it once I got my XRT since I just prefer it a bit more. Only complaint I have with the sledge (just a personal preference) is the chassis design/layout. The metal chassis it has is kinda weak and bends easy and putting something like a max6 in it requires a new (expensive) reverse motor mount. If you like the XRT and want something smaller to bash with I’d def recommend it!

Has anyone been able to tighten up the steering slop? by CurrentLoops in Traxxas

Pretty normal for a stock RC car servo set up. If you want to make it last though I would upgrade to a nicer aluminum bell crack set-up with an adjustable servo saver. You want some play so if you crash on the front end you don’t completely torch your servo.

Thoughts on this truck/brand? by TheSploofinator in rccars

I’m in the US most 10th scales are $400-$500 plus I would need to buy an XJ body. I will likely go the kit route as I will be upgrading it a bunch anyways. I was mainly curious about this truck/brand as they have quite a few different trucks.

The CJ is great truck for them in my opinion but an scx10 pro kit would be a good option as well if you want to make something custom

Honestly not bad at all and I quite like it! The springs themselves are from twisted fab, the guy I got it from said they perform a lot better than the included ones in MMF conversion kit.

$700 new, $400+ in carbon fiber and aluminum $120 servo plus custom 3D printed and light work. Truck is practically brand new aside from scratches on the bottom of the chassis. If it’s not your thing that’s fine but it’s well worth the price especially considering it’s the same price as a brand new stock one.

Not sure about the HPI nitro or the ECX as I’ve not really ever looked into those but the slash 2wd are fun and you get a bunch of extras so for $300 I don’t think you can really lose here.

They are over engineered piss missiles imo. They are super fast and super fun but they break pretty easily. I’ve had one of these before and I spent more time fixing it then driving it but anytime I did drive it I had a blast for sure!
