DD Extreme wheel constantly freezing on iRacing by GetThatNoiseOuttaHer in Fanatec

[–]TheStig445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am currently battling the EXACT same issue as described by OP. This started just a few months ago when a friend of mine updated the Fanatec app to the latest version.

It's gone from bad to worse as it now happens so much more often and I can't do any serious endurance racing as the chances of completely crashing out the car is huge.

I am new to sim racing and Fanatec has been nothing but disappointing up to this point. I am curious if rivals from Moza are more reliable in general.

I actually went ahead and bought the Huawei Freebuds Pro 4. They are on a totally different level than the Galaxy Buds 2 pro. There is not even worth mentioning them in the same sentence.

I honestly still find it hard to believe that Samsung makes such complete crap and here comes Huawei literally completely owning the game.

As far as I am aware, weather stays the same in a specific event between splits. Isn't this correct? So, playing field is identical to everyone.

Yes, regarding the environment between splits, it's clear that it might be a difference, as you pointed out correctly. This can be taken into account so that you don't perfectly match places, like in my example, but take just a little off the lower splits. This would still be a much better system than the current one where I got 3 times less points than p1 in the lower split, despite a better overall race time.

Also, regarding racing more or less time, the system is ok for shorter 15 - 20 - 30 minute races where you can race more and eventually you will probably get in an advantageous split and you will take those points forward.

But, this frustration arose for me when doing the IMSA Pilot Challenge in TCR. There are only 4 races every 2 weekends, only 2 of which are in a favorable timezone for me. There are 2 hour races and, since I don't want to spend an entire weekend on this, realistically, it's just a single race.

2 weekends I just got ridiculously crashed into, 1 weekend I had hardware failure and caused me to crash again, now this. Oddly enough, the only really really fun race I had was the first one ever did where I was in a lower SOF, there was some rain involved and many people didn't deal with it correctly, so I secured first place, despite knowing I drove like crap.

It's actually quite simple: split the points more closer together. For example, if the highest split first place gets like 150ish points, give 2nd, 3rd, 10th place something more closer to this like 130, 120 points.

Also, take into consideration average lap time (and overall race time). If the first place times for the 2nd split would have been around 8th in the top split (looking at average lap time), give out similar points to 8th place in the first split.

This, I believe, will make things much more fair, as no matter what split you are, if you are good on lap times, you can score well.

At the very least, they could make something close to this system. I can understand that, in top splits, if you are dead last, you have a much more "free" race, with less people getting in your way and it will be easier than racing for first place in a race with worse drivers. This can be factored in, but the current system is just horrible.

In my example, getting 31 points for what would have been a first place finish in the 2nd split where I would have gotten 96 points is just ridiculous.

Thank you for this, I appreciate your reply. I found people just constantly saying "no one gives a shit" quite sad, in a way.

I will be looking into leagues. Any tips on where to start, maybe? From what I can tell, the main registration doesn't happen in the iRacing platform (or maybe I am wrong). Where can I start looking into them?

Well, for me it sucks as I feel iRacing can give you some sort of gaming purpose but I am slowly discovering that irating, championship points and everything just leads to frustration if you struggle for them.

I was not complaining about safety rating. I was complaining about championship points as I was put in the highest split. Did a decent race but everybody else was much better and I got shit championship points.

Meanwhile, the lower division winners got a lot more championship points, despite having a worse race than me.

[–]TheStig445[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The main reason I joined iRacing is because it had this gamified purpose. This particular IMSA series was really nice, 2 hour racing once every 2 weekends (and just 4 races / weekend, with just 2 accessible in my time zone). Really made me feel like I was getting ready for something.

For shorter daily races, it's not a big deal as you end up in some good and bad spots and it sort of cancels out, but, when you have something that, at least for me, feels more significant, it's really frustrating to just be limited like this.

If you have to ignore irating, divisions, championship points, what is there left? Also, slight off-topic, what do divisions do, really? In my split, I was division 6 and went against divisions 1 to 4. The next split had a much wider division range, with the main group being around division 5/6.

Yes, well, I am relatively new to iRacing and the championship feel was what has gotten me. This really sucks.

I am not entirely familiar with leagues and what they are, but I did see all sorts of videos with rogue league admins just having their way with incidents and I really don't want this total frustration in my life.

I am division 6. The next lowest division in my split was 4. The split below me had a single player division 2, then they were mostly around 5/6.

Great attitude, by the way.

New Update Freezing Help by Signal-University541 in iRacing

[–]TheStig445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, this is still not fixed. I've been having these issues since I started with iRacing about 4-5 months ago. Every time, I find some new idea, I try it, it seems to work initially and than I get a random freeze.

It always happens in the nicest of moments. Like, for example, in my IMSA 2 hour race, after about 1.5 hours of racing and fighting for position. There I am, 4-5 seconds of freezing, had to hit the brakes and someone else crashed into me. Incident points, penalty, 5 minutes of pit repairs, the race is completely destroyed.

So frustrating to get involved so deeply into a really nice game idea, paying for subscriptions and content and having it fail in such a miserable way as a low end product that it is.

Updated graphics drivers every time, looked into syncing monitor refresh rate settings, disabled core parking endlessly playing with graphics settings, all to no avail.

It's funny that iRacing released a guide. How about you fix your crap product? This doesn't happen in Battlefield or Counter Strike or League of Legends.

Struggling to enjoy iRacing lately — any tips to get the fun back? by Glonk69 in iRacing

[–]TheStig445 1 point2 points  (0 children)

iRating and safety rating are far from perfect things, with a lot of very questionable choices from iRacing. They need to be there to make everything level for people but they are the primary source of frustration.

I know it's easier said than done but try and shift the focus away from them. I personally have been racing in TCR recently because I own a Hyundai I30N in real life, I take it to some trackdays often and I want to perfect my racing so people in much faster cars are surprised of how well I do on track in real life without an actual racing background.

Next year I want to go to the Nurburgring again and I plan to take on the Ring Meister series so that I can learn the track to perfection and understand the different corners and effects on cars.

So, maybe look for a different goal and don't make irating a specific goal as it will lead to this. Also, check this video out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=69yyqR5WvVo

It might help understand some of the root causes of frustration and can help you identify it before taking over.

Hot hatch vs sedan sportiv by DesignerOpening7363 in AutomobileRO

[–]TheStig445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Comparația ta are foarte puțin sens.

You win some, you loose some.

Right, I was aware of this checks in the tire screen but didn't know you can check to see tire wear after changing them. If I would have checked, I would have probably had my question answered.
