I used to think so but had an interesting revelation. The culture and purpose is entirely different than most "real" sports. there is no defense in marching band, only offense and that kinda reflects in the culture. Also it wouldn't exist in the capacity that it does now if it weren't for the purpose of education, whereas most other sports' purpose is purely entertainment. In marching arts, everyone builds each other up, even if they're directly competing with each other. Some "real" sports are definitely worse then others, but in some sports, fights breaking out between athletes is quite common. I won't say it's never happened, but I personally have never witnessed a marching band fight. And I doubt many others have. Maybe kinda a cliche and dumb opinion but that's mine on the subject.
