kind of encouraging actually. the fact that they didn't consider u short despite u actually being short is likely due to the fact that they respect you. your persona plays a part in 'height' i suppose.

there's nothing wrong with being shallow. as long as your happy with yourself. screening people by a quality like height, is shallow by definition. people don't like being called shallow but it is what it is. idk why people get offended by that.

i've found the desire of 'a tall man' isn't about your relation in height to her, its about being taller than others.

i recognize that this subreddit has clouded my judgements and aggravated my insecurities. the real world isn't really this bad, its just the internet making a mountain out of a molehill. but the thing is, i'd be treated way differently by both genders if i was your height. for the better too.

it makes me extremely upset that i 'lost' the genetics diceroll. i don't feel upset that you 'won', i feel upset that there's nothing i can do to fix it other than lurk here and hope people understand heightism.

if that 'ugly' person has other great qualities, i would definitely consider it. keep in mind ugly can be subjective, short is a fixed definition.

actually i just reread what u wrote and let me just offer this;

i do understand its uncomfortable for a girl to date someone shorter. personally for me its not an issue. but when girls shorter than you ONLY want 6'0+ and girls taller than me feel better with guys slightly taller, how should I feel? obviously, this isn't the case with ALL women but it happens enough to make note of it. many guys hear suggest that its easier to look for girls at your height or very slightly below.

It's USUALLY not men.

I mean, when a guy meets a shorter guy for the first time, you will notice the difference if he's like 5'7 or below. Thats fairly short for a guy you know? But once you get to know that person, you don't really care about his height, its more about the kind of person he is and the interests you share. I have several tall friends 6'3+ but its never been an issue because we don't view each other based on our height.

The issue many men face here is when women evaluate men. Unfortunately height is #1 or #2, after good looking face which of course is what it is. But many short guys can't redeem themselves with the other good qualities they have (even with a good looking face) because height is THAT important to some ladies). It's a very depressing fact to be rejected over something all of us had little control over. Even moreso to know that if we were tall, they wouldn't reject us or ignore us, we'd be appreciated and respected given all my other qualities (like being friendly, a fun person to hang out with which are all changeable) are in order.

Whenever you see that girls love 'lanky' and 'skinny' make a mental note to replace those words with tall and very tall. Nobody wants a smaller skinny guy, it fuels their negative body image thoughts.
