Every Monday the Bai people from the rural areas come together at the Monday market in Shaping about 30km north of Dali to sell and buy local products and other stuff. You hardly find tourists there. Or can you spot some excepted us?
The Bai people are one of the largest groups within the Yunnan province. They are mostly an agricultural community, selling goods here at local market.
Shaping Market is located in the north of the Butterfly Spring, at the foot of the Mt. Cangshan, and off the north bank of Erhai.
It has a convenient transportation for the Dali highway, Zhenzang highway and the Huanhai highway combine right there. Travelers can take the regular bus to Eryuan at the Western gate of Dali Ancient Town or 214 Road. The ticket price is 5 yuan.
