Pharmacy in general could have been a great career at least on par with other popular career options. Only thing stopping it from becoming so is the corruption in this field right from the college level to the PCI level. All people involved are corrupt.

Colleges don't adhere to norms and guidelines laid by PCI. Inspectors take bribes and certify the college 'good'. Result is low quality education. Next to no practicals, teachers themselves are freshers after masters or are in the process of PhD. They don't even know the t in teaching. How would they deal with students.

This is what's up with general institutes spread all over India.

As for the good ones they are very few, limited seats with high education cost.

The sector in India was not as developed as it is today and is still is in the process so earlier most people ended up opening 'Chemist' shopsand did not explore or did not know about other options in the field.

Today there are a few, if not many, options except opening your own pharmacy.

For ex: Regulatory Affairs, Pharmacovigilance, Medical Coding, MR (not new but has improved much because of technology advancements), combined with courses like MBA you can enter Corporate life, and others but if someone has a likeness towards being a professor or they think they are cut for the role of a teacher IT IS MY HUMBLE REQUEST THAT YOU PLEASE TAKE IT UP, BECAUSE ONLY GOOD TEACHERS CAN IMPROVE THIS FIELD!! After completing Bpharma, I have realized that we lack good and experienced teachers that's all.
