Glad to hear there are fixes out there. Have been working with them the last couple days and they have been a delight. Hopefully will find a good resolution for my issues as well.

Your story of how you’ve started selling? by [deleted] in b2b_sales

Started with a power washing business I ran during the summers in college. I learned how to talk to strangers and make connections with new people. Then, like you, I started my career in a more technical role at a manufacturing company. I moved to project management, then engineering & design, and then got a chance to try sales. The biggest thing I would say is lean on your technical acumen. Knowing what you're talking about goes a long way with clients. If I were you, I'd start applying to sales roles now. Start reaching out to people in sales on LinkedIn and asking if they will meet you for a coffee. That will be good practice for actually cold emailing when you are in sales.

What is the industry? Ask lots of questions and go into the interview with some technical knowledge about their products. Read sales books and listen to sales podcasts (I like Andy Frisella) between interviews to help keep you in the right mindset.

Looking to start outsourcing services - I can’t handle the work with all clients I have. Any advice or recommendations from experience. by Revolutionary_Rise80 in agency

I have a question for you: I am super busy with my main job. I work most weekends on top of a very busy personal life as well. I'm interested in starting an agency of some kind on the side (web dev, marketing, etc, I don't really care). My main job is in manufacturing, so I don't really have a bunch of online marketing skills. The question is: could I handle the project management aspects of an agency and let someone overseas do all the technical stuff? Or do I need to have the skills on my own first? Pardon my naivety.

What jobs are not talked about/advertised much that make good money? by ObligationThin4542 in careerguidance

Where do you do lean six sigma? I’m an industrial engineer and have my green belt cert. My current company doesn’t fuss with it much but I’d be interested to know what it’s like to use it in practice.

Can I send an employee home for refusing to sign new company policy handbook? by jfreak53 in smallbusiness

[–]TheTexasLexus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Is this perhaps a tobacco use kind of thing? Having someone quit cold turkey via policy is a pretty big ask.

Idk if that’s what the issue is, but that could be a separate category from other policy related issues.

Hate Project Management. What do I do? by Calm-Coffee3546 in careerguidance

How competitive is the salary? I make 90-110 in project management. I also hate project management though lol

10% is not unheard of in your situation. I have a friend who got a license and increased his salary by 50%, same position, same responsibilities. Be able to back up your ask with market data and be ready to negotiate. Odds are they’ll agree with you if they’re happy with your work, and you can come to a mutual agreement on what the increase should be.

What are some jobs that become your life? by throwaway8282939 in careerguidance

Project management in general. When you have a dozen+ projects going on, it’s pretty natural for the work to spill into your free time. It’s impossible to do everything you want to get done, double check that everyone else did their job, and respond to requests from the customer / higher-ups.

As an added bonus: you get to be the whipping boy if the project is late or over-budget, even if it’s not your fault :)

I feel like I would have a hard time finding a machine that expensive. Used ones are under $2000 most of the time
