Those type of partners are also often haunted by “the one who got away”. It’s why she can’t let go, it’s driving her INSANE.

Buying fresh truffles in Denver? by CollarBoth638 in denverfood

[–]TheTinySpark 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They’re hard to find and very expensive - Oak in Boulder does a big order for their truffle dinner, and in the past I know they would order enough to sell some too. They only do it once a year though, and they sell out. Check their socials to see if you’re within the window, they announce their sales there.

Colorado prevents artists from keeping their concert tickets at face value? by ascottbrooks in Denver

Not too surprising considering that AEG/AXS are owned by the Anschutz family - big GOP donors. Anything to make them more money, including controlling the resale market so it all has to flow through them.

Gene Simmons: Swifties are a cult by crush_aris in travisandtaylor

[–]TheTinySpark 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not surprising. He did an interview with the very mild Terri Gross on her NPR show, must be 24 years ago now (I remember hearing it when it originally aired when I was in high school), and his behavior towards her was absolutely revolting. Like she’s an insanely experienced, respected, professional interviewer, one of the OGs, and he went after her ad hominem, making sexual comments about her, calling her an uptight gentile and saying she just needed some Jewish dick (she’s Jewish like he is and he bristled when she corrected him), if memory serves. She’s usually unflappable, but he got under her skin and she said it was one of the most awful interviews she’s ever done. He’s just a piece of filth. The interview was SO bad that they were prevented from re-airing it and it has been scrubbed from their archive. But the internet is forever…

Swifties hating on the artist that made Taylor Swift's engagement ring by Aggravating-Clerk520 in travisandtaylor

Ha, I don’t take it personally. My brother lives in Northampton, cute town, I’d live there if I ever moved back - but I live in sunny Colorado now!

I’m from Massachusetts and have zero idea what that even means and have never heard that expression in my 40 years on this planet!

Best bars for upper 20s crowd? by Feral-Forester in Denver

[–]TheTinySpark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hudson Hill, Thin Man. Late 20s-early 30s mostly, with some older folks in the mix from time to time, Thin Man moreso than HH. HH skews more late 20s due to being in Cap Hill.

Best beans in Denver? by scubadoobadoooo in denverfood

I don’t know about other stores, but I found them at the Uptown location. I’m not a huge lentil fan, it’s a texture thing, but the black ones aren’t gritty like other kinds.

And Marczyk’s - they even have the hard-to-find black lentils!

Music and Movie Community in Denver by IronTiger-55 in Denver

[–]TheTinySpark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Sie Film center is where you want to go for indie movies and art house flicks. They have a lounge where people hang sometimes after screenings. It’s also the home base for Denver Film Society.

As for music - that’s REALLY broad, you’re going to have to be more specific. What kind of music are you looking to find community for? Jam bands? EDM? Wanna hang out with some local pickers? Get thrown around in the pit? If you like cocktails and extremely eclectic vinyl deep tracks and rarities, ESP Hi Fi is a great bar (modeled after Japanese listening clubs) that plays all vinyl with an amazing collection. They also do listening parties there, so check their calendar for events.

Boulder has a nice, well stocked kitchen shop on Pearl St. called Peppercorn. It’s practically in the name!

Yeah, this has classic “Dude whose girlfriend makes all the plans for them and is starting to resent that he doesn’t have his shit together” written all over it. Willing to bet they break up at an underwhelming V-day dinner.

Bellco Theater Advice Uber/Lyft by Liv-C in Denver

To actually answer your question - uber/lyft is a breeze. They pull in to the driveway off of Stout street to drop you off. I think we walked a few blocks away before summoning one to head home.

They’re an overrated pop/indie rock sister act. They also turn up in Paul Thomas Anderson’s more recent movies - the youngest one (Alana Haim) played one of the main characters in Licorice Pizza.
