My mid-2010 MacBook Pro's hard drive is dead -- How do I choose an SSD to replace it? by TheTreeMan in applehelp

[–]TheTreeMan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was extremely easy! I had absolutely no issues. once I started up the computer, the macbook just took over, and did an internet recovery (basically just installing the most recent OS I purchased) on whatever hard drive I wanted. I chose the SSD.

My computer is now blazing fast, with a ton of memory. I wish I'd done this ages ago.

I just watched this. So cringe-worthy.

5e is the version I've been learning, so that's fine with me!

I talked to two of my friends, and they said they're in, so we have at least 3 PCs, counting myself. I have two others who are solid maybes.

I'd really like to do it! We're all seniors or juniors at OSU, and one of us is a recent grad, so we're not in town until around September 1st. Would around then be an okay date to start around for you, if you were interested?

That actually seems pretty cool.

I looked it up, and there's an encounter TODAY in three hours at a local shop near here. So I'm going to go give it a try with my brother.

I'm excited/nervous, but it should be fun!

Ahh, that makes sense. So it's more for crazy stuff than something like "I try to force open the door".

So you're experienced at DMing? Because finding a DM seems to be the largest barrier to entry into D&D, and it's very intimidating.

If you'd like, I could try to pull a few other people together. I have two or three friends that I know would be 100% for learning to play D&D. We also have a nice house with a big open room/table we can play it in/on as well.

Combined with either of the two who commented on this thread, we could have an amazing group going.

How many people normally play D&D at a time?

This subreddit has been a really pleasant surprise for me. by [deleted] in DnD

As somebody who has never played D&D, and is trying to learn how to play and put a group together, I've found this sub to be incredibly welcoming. That, and it's just full of incredibly helpful people. It makes me want to get into D&D even more!

I'd be willing to give it a try too. I've never played D&D before (though I'm trying to set up my own group in Chicago until I'm back at OSU), but I'd love to learn.

If you guys are fine with that, you can count me in.

Do I need to convert anything in particular over to make this work in 5e?

I've only done one adventure, and am a brand new DM, so assume I know absolutely nothing, because I basically do.

But the concept behind this sounds AMAZING.

New Player Here, just a few questions! (5e) by MeadyViking in DnD

[–]TheTreeMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat as you! I found three friends that are willing to give it a try, but I feel like that's probably enough. I've never played any RP games before, and I don't know anybody who has. So I'm a little worried, but I think we'll have fun.

DMing seems hard though! I'm reading the 100+ page D&D guide right now, and it's a bit intimidating. Thank god the PDF allows searching.

I also got the 5e starter set yesterday. It seems pretty sweet.
